CVO Painted parts
« on: January 28, 2014, 12:13:18 PM »

My 2008 FLHTCUSE3 105th Color has had some paint damage. I only want an official Harley painted replacement. Does anyone know who Harley farms out their CVO painted parts to? Mine is Crystal Copper and Black Onyx with Gold leaf.

The only "official" HD painter is Gunslinger painting in Arizona and you will have a 4 to 6 month wait for your parts. I'm sure someone here will give you the tel# and address, details. I can't remember those details....

I know at one time - pretty sure in 2008 - this company was doing the CVO paint for the moco:

Calibre Inc
Address: 2395 Dakota Dr, Grafton, WI 53024
Phone:(262) 375-4671

Has that changed?

Over the years I have had to order painted replacement parts for various CVOs from the moco and the wait has never been over five or six weeks - usually sooner.

I would try one of the 20% off dealers who can order the parts you need.

I don't think Gunslinger is doing it for the MOCO anymore  :nixweiss:

But by following the threads here it's obvious Joe at Xtreme does some excellent work  :2vrolijk_21:

Harley has more than one vendor for painting the CVO parts. As of this year I am not sure how many but there have been as many as 6 different vendors painting parts.

So I would use Joe at Xtreme. I have seen his work and it is top notch.

Gunslinger is still the Primary Vendor for the MoCo.
They took forever on my lowers and I had to send them back ~ a shade off (with a side cover) for a proper match. The 2nd time the lowers were perfect and their prices were surprisingly competitive.

From what I have seen here, I will call Joe at Xtreme the next time that I need something painted on one of my CVOs, In fact, I am trying to source a '14 King Tour Pak for the '09 SERG...

I would be interested in seeing your tour pack when it is done.  Especially since is in awesome yellow.

The OP indicates only wanting an official CVO replacement.  If that's the case, I think your only choice is going to be buying the part through the Harley dealer network.  If you just want your existing part refinished, then one of the shops like Xtreme or Gunslingers can handle that.  If you want an existing part refinished, then you have to look at turnaround time since your bike will be without the part for however long it will take.  Buying a replacement part eliminates that problem, but at a definite extra cost of course.

In the past Harley would not allow it's vendors to sell painted parts directly to consumers.  If anyone has real info, as opposed to the never ending "he said, she said" rumors, that indicates this policy has changed, I'd love to see it.  It defies logic, but there again Harley has been known to do some very strange things.  Letting the lucrative replacement part market for CVO painted parts get away from them is not something that computes when you consider all the other gouging they do to make every nickel they can off the customers.
