Back fire at times
« on: February 04, 2014, 05:38:32 AM »

I have an 08 110 ultra classic, sometimes when we ride , say an hour long trip and stop for lunch . When I go to restart bike it will engine tuts over but does not start right away , when you release starter button it will back fire , then crank right up with only a couple of spins ? I run premium fuel , 11000 miles on engine , is this normal to do this on occasion?

Somewhat common. Cause is lack of fuel for a heat soaked engine. This is usually dealt with if the bike has a tuner and the cranking fuel dialed up a bit. Stock calibration, pretty much stuck with it.

could be a fuel issue.  What mods do you have on the bike?

Also, could be early signs of a failing compensator.

Guess you guys missed the part about it turns over fine but won't fire. Compensator is more kickback related.

We'll traded bikes Saturday, bought a 2013 ultra limited, they gave me the payoff on my bike and I got 13 for 22499.00 and the installed set of RCS slip-ons , highway pegs, changed windshield and gave me a set of data dots to mark bike . Love the way it handles , all together different than the 08 was. Will post a pic tomorrow . Would love to stay on this forum if possible( since I don't have a CVO now)
