Rinehart 4in muffs???
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:17:45 PM »

Well I am at it again and need some advice from my peeps. I am looking to (maybe) pick up a set of Rinehart 4in slip ons and would like to hear from anyone who has some experience with these. I am running a fullsac B pipe with a tts and I am looking for loud and strong performance in the low-mid range rpms. Right now I have CFRs and cannot deal with the lack of low end torque anymore. I understand that the RHs have an available 2.5 baffle which I think would satisfy my desire for db's but worried I will sacrifice performance again. Does anyone have some input on the different baffle sizes and these slipons in general in conjunction with the fullsac B pipe?

Also, could anyone recommend a good base map from the tts software to start with should I go this route?  I have not had the best of luck with tuners and looking to try this next tune on my own (and with you guys!...lol)

Of course, if anyone has a better overall suggestion on a set of slip ons, let's hear it!

Thanks guys!

I have the Rinehart's with the Fullsac pipe and the bike runs good.....I am thinking of going with Freedom Performance true duals since I think I like the sound better from those. I may lose some bottom end as far as the numbers are concerned, but as long as the bike runs OK I am good with that. May stay with the TTS or go with a Power Vision with Auto tune module.

I have the 4 inch Rineharts with the high flow baffles, V&H Dresser Duals and a Power Vision.  I installed the high flow baffles after running the stock baffles in the Rineharts for awhile.  If there is a difference from a performance perspective, I can't tell.

Might want to look at kury powercell pipe and their crusher mufflers,,  hear good things about them and plenty noisy. You might be happy with that set up.    Stuart

In a couple of weeks I should be able to tell you if the BCT baffles help with the low end torque.  Don't know if you can wait, but could save ya time and money.

Thanks guys!!!

@smokeyjoe- definitely let me know how that turns out. I originally wanted to install those but my tuner recommended against it since the CFRs already have a "baffle."  I asked Doc about them too and he didn't recommend them either stating they would only plug up the system. Please lemme know how it turns out.

@tbp857- did you notice a significant change in tone/volume between the 2 sets of baffles? How do you like the sound of the 2.5s?

@mjb765- did you have the bike tuned?  Would you happen to know which map you are running?

I have a TTS map that I got from Steve at Fullsac.

I could tell the difference between the 2 sets, but I wouldn't call it significant.  But it is enough of a difference that I am glad that I put in the high flows.  I have to tell you that I have had a lot of bikes and have changed a lot of exhaust systems and baffles.  Changing the baffles in these pipes was one of the hardest things I have done.

Hey I meant to ask too, what is your opinion of their performance in general?  Bike run and pull strong with your set up and the RHs?

When I first got the bike a couple of years ago, people told me with the true duals and the larger baffles, I would lose low end power, blah blah blah.  Maybe it would show that on a dyno, but I sure can't tell the difference.  The bike runs well and I have no complaints.  I think that you would have no problems if you have a good tune.  The auto tune feature of the Power Vision worked well on my bike.

I initially went with a Fullsac set up with the 2" baffles and it significantly helped with the heat and it increase the performance where I use it most. I changed to the 4in Rhineharts cans and loved the new sound as it was a nice deep rumble but I noticed that the heat increased and I slightly some performance. Steve send me a new map for the TTS for the 4in cans but I really didn't feel a difference overall with the new map. One issue though I was having is the tone when running, though sweet, at the end of day's run, I was tone deaf! It was like i still had the ear plugs in! It took a coupl eof hours to get somewhat back to normal but it was something I didn't like going thru. Bad enough I lost hearing from working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier! So back to the Fullsacs with the lower heat, upped performance and less hearing loss!  8)

I agree with the last post, Rineharts look great, but the massive deep rumble will numb your eardrums quick. I'm sticking with the Fullsac set up. Great sound and performance.

I just installed my new 4" Rineharts with my old set of V & H Dresser Duals. Believe it or not but this setup is quieter than my previous setup of V & H Hi-Outputs with a De-Catted Stock header.

I'm going to ride these for a little bit (winter allowing) and then swap the headers. At 51 I'm right on the verge of loving loud pipes and the whisper quiet sound of Goldwing.  :D

I will say, I really like the sound of the Rineharts. Maybe it's the tru-duals but I think they sound more Harley-like than the Hi-outputs with the 2-1-2 de-catted header. You know-----Harley potato-potato sound vs. Harley sound that's like a muscle car. Like both but can only have one.

I've gotta explain this to my wife so she'll let me have TWO CVO's. ;)

We'll I got the baffles installed and hated the sound with the CFR's.  Not sure the really help much with the performance.  They may work well with a can with no baffles. But not with CFR.  Something else going up for sale.

Thanks for the update brother and  I hate to hear the outcome. After hearing some more of the rineharts and reading some more reviews I think I am gonna hit pause on them and...well...do something I'm sure will end up being a bonehead maneuver but I'm gonna try out a set of thunderheader thundercones slip ons. I got a couple of guys here who swear they are great performers and will give me the sound I'm looking for.   We shall see.....will post an update once I get em on!
