Next step:

Talked to the dealer today about using my Mobil1 V Twin, Redline Shockproof Heavy, and Redline MTL right from the beginning. Trying to see if I got Warranty issues there also. They have no problem using it on a service visit, but told me HD puts in break-in oil, that they just top-off. I asked if it was the Syn 3 or break-in oil. He didn't know. I never heard that they're using break-in oil before. It's possible, I guess, that they didn't want to change all the fluids for the normal bike prep. I'm dumping that stuff as soon as I leave. But I thought it was good to know that they'll use my oils (I'll probably never find out though). Hoist!

No such thing as "break-in oil", what they use is the same SYN-3 you can buy at your friendly dealer.  My suggestion:  Use the factory supplied SYN-3 for the first 250-500 miles, then change to your preferred lubes.  This will flush out tiny metal particles from the manufacturing processes and initial wear during the break-in period.  My personal opinion of SYN-3 is that it makes a fine flushing agent.

Specialized "break-in" oils haven't been used in gasoline engines in many, many decades.  The current definition of break-in oil is "any oil used during the break-in of a new engine".

It always amazes me what dealers will pull out of their A$$ for explanations.

Just got back from dealer. The delivery date is still 1/12 in the computer. Getting my VIN next week. I'm not liking the leather bags and the accessory lock kit for them is a real POS. You can pop the bag around the latch inside if you bend the bag right, basically offering little to no security. I found a pair of bags from an '03 SERK that I'm buying. [highlight]I only need the latch/lock assemblies for them (anyone?).[/highlight] This part is interesting. The dealer claims the you can not buy '07 SE paint! Even VIN restricted registration won't get it for you. They told me you can only order painted replacement parts. [highlight]So, does anyone know where I can get HD Black Ice paint (1 quart), HD Pewter Leafing, and the HD Blue pinstripe paint to match the original paint job.[/highlight] You can stencil the flames from the top of the saddlebag and use it for the top and side of the hard bag. This will look awesome and

Hoist, I've never had anyone verify this but I was expecting the black paint on my Black Ice to be a metalic black or somehow different than the Vivid Black.  It's not, as far as I can tell.  I think the Black Ice comes in to play in the triangular graphic between the pinstripes where it looks like ice crystals.  So, that being the case, it's not the paint color that should be of interest as much as the paint technique to achieve the effect.

The leafing is a different story however.  I'm sure you can buy it somewhere, maybe even at a crafts or other specialty store.

Good luck!!  Keep your fingers crossed on the delivery.  If they say it has a ship date of 1/12, put me in the pool for delivery on Wednesday, 1/17.
