The "flappers" are my way of joking about the "active" valves you guys have on intake and exhaust. As you read thru some of these threads, you'll see how your compadres over there are dealing with it. You'll have to deal with your flappers after break-in, when you do your mods!
Aaaah, now I get it. No need to worry, there is already a bunch of people working at developing little gadgets to convince the active system to deliver more. It starts at about 80 Euro for a little box, which will convince the system that the "low noise" setting is "on", although it is not. That is where, I guess, you need to start. Then give the intake more air, and change the exhaust pipes to aftermarket. Finally retune using a PC or SERT. This should deliver about 15% to 20% more power and torque, if done well. The downside is, however, that it becomes "street illegal" and your bike can get confiscated by any police officer to be send to a technical inspection. If there is too much noise (and there always is) the exhaust parts will be taken away from and you'll pay a hefty fine. Then you need to start all over again. Fact is, anything louder than stock is not legal. That is why H-D devised the active system, which beats the law somewhat.
There is also an issue with insurance coverage in case of an accident, becaue the mods may revoke the bikes street license. This is rather unpleasant to deal with.
What needs to be seen is, how the bike performs new. When I received my SEEG2 in late 2004 H-D did, in my opinion a horrible job by simply slapping the 88" parts on the 103" engine in Europe. That created over-heating engines with not much more power than stock 88". I am (still) hopeful that this may be different for the 110" engine (think lesson learned). If anyone is interested, I'll report on that.
