Dumb TTS question:
« on: February 23, 2014, 12:24:20 PM »

Ok, so I'm trying to discuss which tuner my buddy should buy for his '14 FLHXS.  We're down to DJ PV (which I have for my '11 FLHTK), or TTS Masterune.  He has been trying to decide based on my opinion and limited experience (none with TTS, only what I've read).  He is concerned that the pics for the TTS show it wih a serial cable.  I would assume that they're just dated photos, and that the kit would come with a USB cable.

I am recommending that he use the TTS and a Fullsac exhaust.  I don't know anyone who has not been happy with that combo.

Any input on the cable or other kit contents?

TIA!

The current TTS product comes with a USB cable.  Their support is good.  You need to be competent with a PC.

Thanks.  He's got plenty of technology experience.  But he uses crApple at his house.  I assume he'll just run a windows module on his mac or whatever it's called.

I use the Mastertune program with a Mac.  I use Parallels to run Windows and it works just fine.

So is it a standard usb cable, or does it require a usb to serial cable?

The USB to the computer isn't the problem, but you do need to buy the gray connector that goes from HD06 to 6pin data port for the bike.  Any TTS dealer can hook you up with this.  The 617 level cals are out for TTS, and SE products.  No word about new cals from Vision at this time.

So, what I'm asking is "what's in the box?"

Does a person order a mastertune kit for their bike, from say, Fullsac, and it has everything they need from usb to bike interface, or is it ala carte orderin?

Also, DJ has plenty of base tunes for the PV.  14 tunes for the '14 103 and 18 for the '14 TC103.  How about we leave that discussion for another thread?

If you buy the TTS Mastertune kit from Fullsac all necessary cables for your bike are included.

sorry, how I read your first response was the cable was included....rather than it uses a USB cable interface.   :-[

Base cals are important when considering a tuner.  The 614's have went away and replaced by 617's by 2 big flash tuning companies.  I feel it was important to mention.  So, I mentioned it.

What comes in the box?  A VCI, CD, and sticker.  The cables are bought separate because they are dependent on what bike you are tuning to what cables you need.
