PM,
Awesome pics, thanks for posting. Only 22 degrees here this morning, winter is trying to get started.

Ed

Yeah, getting the chance to ride out in the southwest really gets one wondering why we live up here in the north.

Paul,
At least you're not in Buffalo!

Ed

You're right about that, they do get the snow dumped on them in Buffalo, don't they.

Did you go from LV to PAHRUMP then into Death Valley?  It,s a  streight shot from lv to PH. about 85 miles to gate of DV. I was running with a friend 125mph+ he was on a 120+ big inch bike. When we got to DV from LV he used 3.5 gallons of gas over 85 miles, he watched his gas needle go to empty on the run. We didn,t want to late to meet our group---AK

" on a dark desert highway, cool wind in my face"

depends on the time of year. You snowbirds don't need to be too jealous. If you'd ever been stuck out there in August, you wouldn't think it was so neat

PM,
Great ride,    nice choice for time of year......I live out here,  and can tell you that the summer is NOT the time to be in Death Valley (You know they call it Death Valley for a reason.........people DIE out there in the summer).  Spiderman and I cut through there a few years ago when we were riding with the club coming home from Reno.  One gas stop (this was late August) the thermometer read 116 degrees in the shade.  We pulled in to a gas station,  and Mrs. Beagle saw BB getting ready to fall out.......she ran in to the store and ran back out with a 2 liter bottle of cold water and just dumped it on BB (I was waiting for a fight.....none,  he just said thanks).  The rest of the way home,  we bought 20lb bags of ice,  strapped them to a brothers tour pak,  cut holes in the bags and rode tire to tire to get the meltage..........

The desert is beautiful this time of year,  but in the summer you have to really take it seriously........Looks like you picked a great day for your ride..... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I was in Death Valley on Sunday and it was 73F......here's Terrie.....standing next to a Joshua Tree.......

Somebody told me today that these trees grow straight up for a hundred years before they get their first branch.

Death Valley.......the lowest place on earth.......

The guy in Furnace Creek told me that more people die each year from single car roll over accidents than any other way.  And......he said......surprisingly, they don't loose that many to the heat anymore due to it's reputation.

I rode my bike through there a couple of times, going to the Laughlin Run.  My bike was so hot.....my motor was making noises that aren't suppose to come from a motor.......that I rode straight on thru without a stop.  I was afraid that if I stopped, or if I even slowed down, that that old Evo motor wasn't going to start again.  It was 122F that trip.
