Clutch magic. Pure butter Baby!
« on: March 11, 2014, 07:14:10 PM »

This project started out with the want for a chrome inner primary. Thought while I was at it I would address clunking noise from neutral to first and clutch slippage. Did research on our CVO site. 2012 SESG (Ruby) with 6k miles. This is what I came up with.
Installed Clutch wiz, Hayden BT07 tensioner, SE compensator, and Aim 480 lb clutch spring. Clunking into gear is gone. Up and down shift are very smooth. Finding neutral is easy. Slippage of clutch gone. Clutch pull is noticeably easier(Probably not 40%, but easier). Rode 140 miles yesterday. Couldn't be happier with work done. I would highly recommend this upgrade.

You already had the SE compensator.....did you replace it with the latest version and glue the oil deflector on to the outer primary cover?

Yes, replaced it with updated part. It was wasted.

The Hayden tensioner makes a huge difference from the pos stock one.  I had had my inner primary replaced and the Hayden went in and it is so much better. The clunk is almost nil, neutral is easier to find and all around a huge improvement.    I had no problem with the clutch so that was left alone.    Stuart.

I've got the CW and 480 spring ready to go in. Just picked up a new outer gasket yesterday at the dealer. OUCH$$  $35 for a damn gasket. Next time I'll shop around. From the sounds of it I should just go ahead and get the Hayden and do it all at once.

I agree that outer primary gasket is way to much. I sure miss the old inspection cover as that gasket is much cheaper. I installed Hayden tensioner as well and am very happy for the same reasons mentioned above. I wonder if the CW would work for me as I have a Rivera Pro Clutch and had to use the Gold diaphragm clutch spring to keep from slipping with the 131 motor now my clutch can be a bear to hold at lights so I try to pop into neutral when I have to sit at a light.

I think it will only work on stock baskets. But here is the site  ClutchWIZ Info.

Any issue with not having the plastic piece glued in?  I'm concerned about that coming loose.

$115?? maybe i'm getting to be a tightwad in my old age or just tired of seeing outrageous prices from Harley, such at $3.95 for a chrome torx 1/4 x 3/4 inch windshield screw but that seems about $60 overpriced to me.

$115 for the Billet 7075 aluminum ClutchWIZ is a STEAL... if that's what you're referring to. It's the intelligently-designed clutch part that the MoCo SHOULD have supplied, with the proper fulcrum points. instead of the stamped steel POS they did. If you haven't tried the ClutchWIZ, you really don't know what you're missing.

Can anyone comment on Hayden vs. Baker manual chain adjuster?
Thanks
