The sounds of Vance + Hinds Big Radius on FXDSE 07
« on: March 24, 2014, 06:06:11 PM »

Hey guys, I know I'm a little late to the party but I had a question on sound. I see several pictures of the Vance & Hinds Big Radius pipes. I want to know how they compare with the V+H that came on the bike. I love the look of curved pipes on this bike (I think it is so sexy) but I am nervous to give up my sound for it. Thanks! I added a pic to show what I have done so far.

The Big Racket 2-2 aka Big Radius are loud. Personally I like the sound but don't like how they performed down low. My dealer allowed me to swap to the 2-1 which is a lot quieter and seems to have better tq by my butt dyno.

One negative of the 2-1 is my heat shield cracked, never heard of that happening on the 2-2.

I have the V&H big radius on my '01 Fatboy - with an 88" motor, S&S 585G cams (the G is for gear driven) - and I can tell you that they will draw attention the moment you start the bike. On a 110" these things will be LOUD and a DEEPER tone than the pipes pictured on your bike. the tone change is probably due to the larger diameter outlet. If they prove too loud you can always get the "quiet baffles" for them

One benefit is people hang up their cell phone at traffic lights because they can't hear their conversations  :huepfenlol2:

But then my wife always knows when I leave for a solo ride and when I'm on the way home - she claims she can hear me when I'm well over a mile away  :nixweiss:

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I already have the loudest pipes of anyone I ride with. One group calls me "Pipes". I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be losing that volume if I switched. No quiet baffles for this woman!

I had them installed on my 2000 fat boy. They sounded great. Ears rang on real long rides.
