Help choosing exhaust!
« on: March 29, 2014, 12:44:47 PM »

This coming Friday I get to pickup my new to me bike but it desperately needs help with exhaust.  As of right now it has a Fullsac header with stock slipons.  Now my question is are Fullsac 2.25" SD even close to Rinehart 4" in sound level?  I like a loud bike but still want to be able to hear the stereo.

IMHO
it's prettry simple to adjust the sound level using various Fullsac cores, cvo donor mufflers and different layers of wrap
You can really adjust the sound to your liking
You have a Fullsac x-pipe correct?
I've used this setup on my 113, my 09 96" my 2010 103" and my new 2014 Limited
Different core sizes and wrap to get what I want.
My 113 is pretty quiet until I open the throttle,  then it barks pretty good!

CFR's on my '12 FLHTCUSE7.  Deep, deep rumble. Turns heads.  Clean look.  Have to tune them though.

I installed Fullsac 2" cores this winter along with the X pipe and tuner. I finally got to take my 13 Ultra CVO For a good ride today and I love the sound! You can make it bark if you want but cruising at 65 the sound level is perfect. At 80 though I am thinking it might be too loud!

I love the extra power too!!

SD cores without hesitation.....

If they are to loud you can wrap them to tone them down.

I worked my way up the core size chart and ended up with the SD cores. Save your pennies and start with the SD's.

Sounds like its time to call Steve at Fullsac and order up some SDs now.  Thanks for all the replies and recommendations.

i find loud cool for about 5 mins - a month. my wifes car is too loud, my stock harley exhaust is sometimes loud... I've been around loud machines my whole life, if i have to tolerate loud i want to be getting paid for the annoyance - if i can just hear my bike its loud enough. i fully realize I'm in the minority, but when you spend your life outside running heavy equipment a 8v71 is just plain irritating and i don't care if i ever have to hear one again. my hearing is mostly shot at this point, so loud just gives me a headache.

i do like power, but i want it as quiet as i can get it. the volvo 480 i ran last fall was real nice - almost silent - 360hp no stress after a long day.

I work in a high speed manufacturing plant. We wear ear plugs. I like loud  :P Too each his own, that's the great thing about riding, we all have different tastes.  :2vrolijk_21:

Steve @ Fullsac had some great insight about the loud subject, but that may have been after hours! 8)
