Be sure and know your license plate number, that is a question I was asked at the border. Some in our group did not know the plate number and had to get off there bike and look at it. Kind of embarrassing in front of the group and border patrol.

No Guns, no tazers, DOT helmet, registration and insurance are fine.

You will be asked for the correct pronunciation of "about"  That will confirm to the CSBA that you are American.  If in doubt, they may ask you to spell Colour (color) or night (nite)  This is just to confirm you are American and not some Eurotrash or worse, Justin Bever trying to sneak back in to the country

Have a great ride, well keep the light (yes we only have one) out for you :D

Last year they (Canada) suggested I have a Canadian endorsement from my insurance company when traveling in Canada.  My insurance company sent it to me, no problems and seemed to know what it was.

I will add that pepper spray or mace is also a no no. My wife got in trouble crossin in to New Brunwick a couple of year ago. Detained us about 30 minutes. Also I recommend using a credit card for all purchases. Let them do the exchange rate. Otherwise you will loose money. Canadians like to take American money.
We also go a worse treatment coming back into the states than leaving. They made us feel like drug cartel or something. Had for border agents surrounding my bike.

You simply buy the "pepper spray or mace" in a "Bear Repellent" label and tell them you may be in an area where there could be Grizzly Bears, as last year we had apprx.. 4 - 5 people attacked by Grizzly Bears. Don't know how could the "Bear Spray" would actually be against an attacking Grizzly.

Had  some friends go into canada about 10 years back all on bikes all bikes and saddlebags were searched  all contence emptied out and going through  then came the big search  where some of the men and women were taken inside and  were striped down and searched    after a 3hour ordeal they were allowed to continue on into canada    needless to say they turned back into the good ole USA  and gave the one finger salute to canada

been in and out of Canada more times then i can remember both on MC and in a cage, never hassled and never searched going into Canada. had a casual search of MC done coming home once.

dont know your friends but would have to ask did any of them give the border agents an attitude?

I've had the same experience with Neal, when on cycles, when traveling on business and especially back in the racing days (both when racing snowmobiles and cars).  Always a more stringent process getting back into the States then when entering Canada...   :2vrolijk_21:

We did that route a few years ago.  Great Falls up into Canada, Lethbridge, Calgary, Canmore, Banff, Ice Fields Parkway up to Jasper and back taking back roads for as much as possible....some of the most beautiful country I've been in.  Came back through into Glacier....God's color pallet.... ;D
I was impressed with Montana, too.  One of the most diverse states (terrain wise) I've been in....beautiful country we have here.  Have a great trip, brother.

Coming back from Nelson at the US border they called in our passports and ID and asked to look in one bikes top bag and then ask me to open a saddle bag and as he started to reach in asked what do you have in here and Mrs. R says just my dirty undies he quickly pulled back his hand and said ok. Priceless laughed all the way home. :huepfenlol2:
