2010 110" CVO with Andrews 57H Cams - Dyno Results
« on: April 11, 2014, 10:23:43 AM »

Much like 05Train, I performed a cam upgrade this winter on my 2010 CVO.  My engine, until this point has been largely stock, sans replacing the SE Ventilator with a SE Heavy Breather, a set of MGS True Duals w/loud baffles, and the SEPST.  As with 05Train, I stopped short of having any headwork done.  I did not make any changes in regard to the throttle body either.

At 30K+ miles, it was time for me to replace my stock lifters and inner cam bearings.  Going through the top, I also took the opportunity to replace my stock head gaskets with a pair of Cometic .030 gaskets.

Though my SE255 cams looked good enough to continue running, upgrading was too good an option to ignore.  Researching led me to the Andews 54H and 57H, and I ultimately decided to run the 57H.

The other major upgrade over stock components was the S&S Premium lifters w/o limiters.

My valve train is buttery smooth at this point, and very quiet.  Peace of mind with the lifters and new inner bearings is worth the work alone.  I also replaced my cam tensioners and my breather assemblies.  Neither tensioner was badly worn, but it was cheap enough.  I also had the updated breather assemblies in hand for my TC88 build, so they were re-purposed.

Yesterday, I had the bike retuned.  Dyno map attached - numbers are uncorrected for sea level and I'm at approximately 62-6500' elevation.

I can say, I'm very pleased with the results.  Power delivery is smooth and strong, there are no jerky spots and the torque just keeps pulling.  The engine seems to run a little cooler as well, though it was only one ride home of over 35 miles, during stop and go traffic until I was on the outer edge of town.

New cams look great!

Here's my 23,000 mile 255's. Glad to hear you replaced your lifters.

Nice Redbeard! Awesome looking chart! I am putting my heads on tomorrow after changing the springs, intake valves and guides. I also put in the kury tc24d cams, tensions and bearings. Hope I get a chart like yours! Ride safe!

Hey WillyB, the wear mark on the 255 Cam, is that just from bad surfacing on the cam itself or are there other factors that come into play that contribute to it ???
I'm not a mechanic but very interested.

Redbeard, Those look like really good numbers.

Congrats !!!

I'm not really sure. The lifter had some scoring on it as well. I just decided to change cams and this is what I found.

No real noises and such before the change. Oil changed always on time.
