Transfering Garmin .gpx file to 2014 Infotainment System
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:38:46 PM »

I and the dealer (during delivery) attempted to import a file called current.gpx (that contained only my favorite's from my car's Garmin Nuvi 765), and the Infotainment system (with the latest update) wouldent recognise it.

Does anyone have any idea on how to accomplish this without having to go 1 by 1 and save each favorite location from 1 gps to the other.

Thanks,
Lance

If you just plug the thumb drive to USB it doesn't automatically download (like the update does) you gotta go in to Nav menu and import the files.

Hi Opossum,
I tried that with a flash drive and I got a message on the radio that said "No Playable Media Found", and won't allow me to import them.
Any other suggestions?
Thank you,
Lance

I believe it's like the problem I have.  Seems Garmin and Harmon-Karden don't play well together, and the MoCo doesn't seem to interested in a solution.  If you find one, POST IT!

So what do I have to do, save each one oft favorites from my Garmin, one at a time?
Also I can't seem to save my new favorites or how to rename them, I can only locate them as recents, and the screen had gone dark like it went into night mode and I dont know how to change it back.  I read the book but was more confused than when I started, any help you could give me I would appreciate and 2 last thing sometimes I get a question to add or replace an address or destination I put in, I don't understand the differance and what happens with either is choosed.
Thanks for your help,
Lance

OK, so I just loaded a file for tomorrows ride 500 mile and 6 waypoints...hit the home button, then press nav button, then menu (top right)screen says no media found, press ok, then scroll down to import, route name comes up, press that and select all, then on the left side in the middle theres an icon looks like thumb drive, press that and the name of the drive comes up (mine says E:CVO) and then the data loads.  That's how I jus did mine.   :nixweiss:

Hi Opossum,
I tried what you said and I used a different flashdrive (maybe that's the problem), and yes the file is called Current.gpx, not Current.gps (I'm not sure if you had a typo) or if maybe I have to re-name the file and use the flashdrive that came with the bike.
But it still dident work.
Any idea's or other suggestions.
Thanks,
Lance

Lance here's a Garmin .gdb file that I've loaded and a buddy loaded on his Garmin 665.  This site won't let a .gpx file upload so ya gotta do a save as then change the extension to .gpx.  Don't think it matters which thum drive u use, but I'd delete everything but the file u wanna use then try to upload as before.  If this doesn't work either, I'm stumped.
Good Luck

Can I transfer from my home computer my custom routes and favorites to the new gps on the 2014 bikes. My H\D shop has never done this and don't know if it can be done , it would make life easier on me if it can be transfer ?
