I assert that Harley Davidson CVO fit/finish quality control is non-existent.

Strong words? Yup! Read on

Run don't walk from that bike.  You will have a shot at another.  Why take on the hassle of dealing with it all?  I agree it is a pretty sad statement about the quality control at HD.

Clyde,
I would pass if I felt as strongly as you about this motorcycle. Having said that, I can't promise you the next one will be any better. If the posts on this site are any indication, H-D fit, finish and paint has gone in the chitter in the past few years. Or maybe, it's the same as it's been for a number of years, but when folks are paying $32k they expect more than when they're payin $20k. I know If the local (name your brand ) car dealer was asking $32k for a car and I had the complaints you do I would not buy the car. No way no how. My 07 Road Glide actually has a very good paint job on it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the paint on the side of the saddlebags that faces the rear wheel actually had been painted the same as the side that shows. My first 03 SERK didn't. Elvis did, so I guess maybe there's hope the next bike to come in will be to your liking. The thing that really sucks here is that if you pass, someone else will buy that bike and the dealer won't do a damn thing to fix the issues you brought up.

WildClyde,
Like you told me, It's all about the money. I would pass, post the VIN here so all will know to pass on it in the future, and wait for the next one. AJ

Without question!!! Ask any 06 BCCS owner about paint resolution with the MOCO... >:( >:( >:(
If it ain't right don't pay for it cause once you do... they gotcha!! This is the ONLY time you have leverage. There are other CVOs out there and you can get 'em. Shop around...

Signed, a 06 BCCS owner awaiting new paint

 Clyde ,
I would PASS on that one in a heartbeat, like someone else said they make the promises as they are getting your money then they get AMNESIA after they get your cash and can't seem to ever get it right. Maybe the MOCO will get the message that we aren't going to pay 40K for a POS...and the dealer is paying interest on a POS he can't sell either. Sorry guys I'm a little fired uo this evening>>> I view everyone here as friends and brothers and when someone tries to F**k one of my friends that's the same thing as trying to F*** me and that's not a good thing >>> Thanks Guys for letting me vent>>> Greg

My '05 had paint problems. I went ahead and took the bike.
It took over a year to get it taken care of.
DO NOT TAKE THAT BIKE! Unless of course you want to go through more crap than you can possibly imagine getting it straightened out.

This is really a sad story, As other have said I would pass and have the dealer give you a written guaranty on the next one. There are still 06 owners that are fighting to get problems fixed. This suppose to be an enjoyable experience with a product that you will have great pride in owning. This will not be the case if you take the bike.

Are you dealing with Perkins in SF?

Best of luck to you on the next one. I can't imagine how let down you must feel :(

Guys,

I really have to say this depends on the dealer.   My 05 had a fisheye and harley wouldnt cover it and the dealer didnt do squat to help me.  On the 07 bike the dealer pre ordered me a new front fender that had a run in it, they buffed it out best they could and then shipped the part down to my local dealer and paid to have it installed and paid shipping back of the old front fender.   With as many problems as this bike has though I would consider carefully taking it.   If you can get in writing that you get the next one that is something, but remember some dealers only get 1 of each color or a limited number.   I would personally keep the bike on hold with your deposit and see if you cant find another one elsewhere that you can get for the same price.   If you can then your set if you can't you must weigh everything and as well as the relationship and how you feel the dealer is going to take care of you.   My fender took 5 weeks.   On my 04 some items took 10 weeks and on my 05 the replacement side bag took 13 weeks.   I have seen stuff take up to 18 plus weeks.   Thats a long time to wait and others saying they have had problems going on over a year now.    The other side to this is if harley wont warranty it and you can get the dealer to put in paper that if harley says no, that they the local dealer will still pay for and install the parts.   Having asked this you will quickly see the posture of the dealer and be able to make a better decision.

my 2 cents ran over

I had a similar experience, only not nearly to this extent.

When I arrived to pick up my SERK the salesman goes, "I have bad news."  Oh chit what could this be.  So he shows me a small bad spot in the paint on the front lip of the front fender.  The sales guy said that they had already ordered the replacement fender, and the spot was very small (no one else has noticed it).  Here is where it got interesting.  The salesman tells me that this is the third SERK that they have gotten in and ALL of them have had the same problem!  I was shocked!  So I asked him if they had notified the MoCo of this, and he says, "No point, it won't change anything."

Lets face it, the MoCo doesn't care if the dealers are having problems or not, they only care (hopefully) if WE are happy or not.  The really sad part is, no one at the MoCo will take notice unless we stop buying the bikes, and the parts, and the clothes, and everything else with H-D on it. [smiley=soapbox.gif]

Finally, I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be a good idea to post pictures of some of these problems others have encountered so that others will know what to look for before they take home their new bikes.  I was very glad the tech at my dealer caught the issue and reported, because I would have never seen it until the first polishing.

One more vote to pass on the bike.  Do you really want to spend big bucks then have to deal with BS?  I know that I wouldn't

What you are seeing is the result of Supply and demand and LUST for Wall Street to show profit (prop up the stock).

The rush to MFG. the bikes no matter how close the MOCO watches they alone are on the production floor are pressured to get the product to market ASAP and are rewarded for making that happen.

They Will Continue in this way no matter if you stop buying the bikes or not. (The Dealer will support the factory on a one on one bike) Some will fight others will just give up and take it. If they (the MOCO) can sell it here they are poised for a GOBAL effort so they can ship'em off soar or make them over there, It really doesn't matter to the MOCO or any other thing that is MFG in the USA (and that isn

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for your support, your kind words and your suggestions.

My morning after update: I phoned the dealer and told the salesman that I will not take the bike until it is 100% right. I gave the dealer the option to do what it takes to have the replacement parts installed within a few weeks and I'll take the bike. If that can't happen, I'll move on. The dealer promised to left me know the outcome later today.

Several people have asked for the VIN which is 1HD1PR8397Y954260.
