Being early, we were able to watch the two groups that were registered in front of our 11:30 a.m. group. Witnessed a couple of spin outs, one guy did two or three laps and came back to the pits, parked over at the side of the lot and stopped short....jumped out and ran over to the side to dump. Not sure if it was the acceleration, nerves or what it was but to do that in front of everybody else.......needless to say, he didn't get back in the car.

I guess it might not be for everyone.
You sit through a 15 min. class, then a track introduction ride in a Porsche Cayenne SUV (a couple of laps just to let you get the lay out, first hand). Then the helmet and you're introduced to the professional driver that rides shotgun in each of the cars. Interestingly, I met one from Australia, one from England, one from Germany and Tao (the guy that went with me) from France. What.....Americans don't know how to drive?
Then there was the guy that checks the tire pressure all day long....he's from London. He also maintains the fleet. They have a new Vette that they offer a ride along.....two laps for $99. A professional driver drives, you ride shotgun and he's pretty much drifting the whole way but it's at high speeds of 80-110 mph. That looked like it'd be a hell of a lot of fun, too. The tire guy said he's constantly letting air out, all day long. Then each morning he has to add air to each of the tires before he brings them out.
OK.....enough of this....it's my turn.....

Just not a lot of room for a guy that's 6'4" and 220 lbs......

A much better fit for somebody Babe's size.....

I will pass that green Porsche S that's way off in front of me, on the track....

another lap and much, much closer........

It happened on the backside, in a curve, no less and passed on the outside......some people should stay home.

You're kidding me....it's over already?

Now if you're curious about what this would be like....or if you just want a laugh of me at my first track day....they do offer a recording. It relfects the track lay out and a little red icon that reflects where you're at on the track throughout the video, a camera pointed at the driver as well as a camera pointed out the front (from the driver's view). It's 13 min. 30 sec. to view here (it has volumn and click on it to view in full screen). It begins with Tao and I sitting in the car and he's giving me some final instruction before we pull out on to the track....
