CVO BREAKOUT WITH WIMP CAM VS CVO DEUCE PERFORMANCE
« on: May 14, 2014, 11:14:13 AM »

I've got a CVO Deuce (they use the 203 cam, 234 .510) 95" motor, modified V&H 2 into 1 pipe, modified SE air cleaner assy. and Dyno-jet USB III tuner. Since they won't bring back the Deuce, I have been thinking about a Breakout, I rode several at the demos and wasn't impressed with the lack of performance. SOOOO I have been checking out the CVO Breakout. It may have a 110 motor, but it has the wimpy 211 .556 cam, it has a high lift and a wide lobe separation, but won't have any real top end due to the lack of duration. Harley hasn't got any cam that I'd like to have the dealer put in it. Local dealers won't allow me to test ride it, and demos never have the CVO Breakout for testing either. Has anyone ridden both of them, or had both on the dyno? I can afford to buy one, but then again I don't want a slower ride. I know the pipes gotta go immediately, but The dealers won't warrenty the Breakout with a non-Harley cam, even if they install it. I'm also having a hard time with the color choices, but the idea of it being a slug and not sounding good either is just too much for me to crack out the wallet. Input anyone?  Thanks, TIMINATOR  :-\

My Breakout will eat a deuce up any-day with the the 259 cam. It all in the tune as far as top end there is no need to do 130+. In which I hit several times doing autotunes. The gearing is not made for that specific area of riding. It's a mid range type bike. It will ask you for a little throttle out of the hole and then it's on until 110mph! Different riding style and different power. I have allot of fun with this bike and look good doing it!!!!

Sorry CAM, we still will be Rollin in style!!!!

Timinator,
The description of your Deuce shows you like stock bikes with a manufacturer's warranty, or an ESP.   ;)

Every dealer I've been to, when they know I'm a serious buyer, has let me demo the CVO I'm interested in.  Maybe it's the dealers around you, and you need to try some others.

Since a stock CVO won't outrun a worked 95", and the stock pipes won't do, and you don't like the Breakout colors, and you can't keep the warranty with non-manufacturer parts...why are you interested in a CVO Breakout?

I guess I was under the impression that the CVO Breakout has the SE 255 cam.  Am I wrong?

The Breakout does come with a 255 but he did some compression work and installed a 259 a month or so ago.....

Don't care about the ESP, and dealers (plural, several) were not impressed with me bringing my trade and $20,000 in CASH, enough for me to get a ride on a CVO. New plan is to buy a lo mile used non CVO and just do what I wanted to anyway. I'm still drawn to the CVO Fatboys too. Hmmmmm.  I can do my choice of cams, big bore and paint and get what I want for less cash and no sales tax on the private transaction. P.S. the last time they said no rides, and told me to find a private party to ride his, come back and buy ours, I bought the one from the private party. He acted like he wanted to sell it. I have to assume that if they aren't impressed enough with a guaranteed sale to treat me nice when I am trying to give them cash, I probably won't get much consideration if I need the warranty anyway. I am a private businessman, have been in business over 35 years, and have a good enough B.S. detector to not waste my time with dreamers, but I am perplexed with sales-peeps not acting like they want to sell anything. To their credit, Phoenix if FULL of B.S.ers. I deal with them every day, that's why I deal in cash.  P.P.S. I have brought several buyers to the dealership and they have all bought bikes. Time to try out other dealers. TIMINATOR   :(

I am bike sitting for my brother who has a 2003 RK Classic which is Chips Old favorite colors. It has the 95" kit with the SE heads and 203 cams. I went for a short ride and wow forgot how fun that combo is. It really rips in the low to mid. And this combo is a great trailer puller if anyone is interested as I had a 2000 RKC before my 07 SEUC. He told me to let the Mrs put some miles on it as it only has 2k and looks brand new after we Glared it. So guess we will have to go visit some parking lots for practice.

Time to un-jack the thread and post my latest conclusions... Tried two more dealers, and they both had better deals than "my" preferred dealer "that will help me better than the others because I am always in there purchasing stuff and bringing other customers in." "My dealers" FIRM offer: trade-in 2003 CVO Deuce for 2014 CVO Breakout= $21,813.00 difference. Best "other" dealer: $19, 748.00. Before I went to anymore dealers, I came to the conclusion: The MOCO doesn't offer a color that I like, I don't like the black wheels, I wanted dual front disc brakes (lame right hand and duals have a lighter pressure), and then to get it to run like a CVO I have to change the cam, mebbie add compression, and change the pipes. Why the hell am I even thinking about this?  Another conclusion: my "used-to-be-preferred" dealer is owned by a big corporation and was asking for a $2000.00 premium on the CVO Breakout, and now near the end of the model year is down to the MSRP price. The other dealers never had the price gouge add-on, and are offering me LESS than MSRP now, and MORE for my trade than the "Corporation" guys. Something to consider when shopping.   :soapbox:   TIMINATOR

I have a 2014 CVO Breakout. I'm running Bassani ProStreet Turnout pipes and had it tuned with an SE Super Tuner. I am getting a dyno tune today, so will know what the actual torque and hp numbers are later this afternoon. I am very impressed with the low end grunt on this bike. It pulls from first to fifth gear and is plenty fast for me. The pipes are, what I would call, mellow-loud at moderate speeds but when you open it up they are very LOUD. Loud as most anyone would want and sure to get the immediate attention of any cop within ear range, so I'm careful about where I open her up. As for color, the blaze orange is a real head-turner. I have people coming up to the the bike and slobbering over it wherever I park it. Some folks even take pictures of it. The main comment is about the color and how much they love it. I've owned some nice sports cars and bikes over the years but never anything that attracted attention like my blaze orange CVO Breakout.

Im really liking the look of the Bssani Pipes and glad to hear they got some bark to them. I have seen them for around $540.00. Were you able to get them any cheaper and were the any mods to get them on?

Didn't get them any cheaper. I had the dealer order them and install before I picked up the bike. No mods. The bolt right in. You can go to Bassani online and hear the pipes on a regular Breakout if you want. Check 'em out. Sound is awesome.
