How Do You Control Excessive Engine Heat in Your 110
« on: May 14, 2014, 04:57:37 PM »

I notice the 110 engine really heats up. What can be done about it? Oil cooler?

Change the cams to a later closing intake set.  ;)

Don't forget head pipes.

Don't forget head pipes.

Cowboy

That's only on Touring models.  The catalyst is in the mufflers on the Softy and Dyna models.

as mentioned above
- catless headpipe (lots of choice)
- new cam (lots of choices)
- proper tune with tuning module (Power Commander, TTS, etc)

the above will cool things down quite a bite.  The 110 comes standard with an oil cooler, but set up from the factory to run lean and hot to meet emissions.  FEw changes above will make a world of difference.  When changing the cam, check you crank runout and also change out lifters to one of many recommended replacements like S&S in order to avoid Harley lifter failure in the future

If you swapping the head pipe have the head pipe ceramic coated will yield massive gains on the heat you are feeling.

I'm running Bassani ProStreet Turnout pipes with EFI Super Tuner. No Dyo yet but that's coming soon. I don't know if I want to change cams only to reduce heat. Will the dyno tune help it run cooler?

Only ride when it's under 70 degrees out, and never get stuck in traffic! :huepfenlol2:

A dyno tune will help a bunch with a stage I.

From the professional dyno tuners we are in touch with, a high-quality tune, will tame a bunch of heat all on it's own.
Combine that with the exhaust timing spec's of an S&S .570, and it'll be as cool as a cucumber. :2vrolijk_21:
