I've been researching this little bugs for about a year now.

They started out in Washington state at Liberty Cycle Car with their Ace model.  In those they used a Harley motor.

The Ace got some good press and Morgan ended up buying them out and taking the production back the the UK.  They now use a 2L S&S Wedge motor running through a new Mazda Miata 5 speed trans with a Quaife 90 degree rear gearbox driving a 1.5" wide rear Gates Polychain timing belt.  Liberty Cycle Car is now a WA state dealer for the Morgan Three Wheeler.  There are not many dealerships set up in the US yet.

They claim 0-60 in about 6 seconds and a top speed of around 115 mph.  They seem to handle quite well with just three wheels.

Mr. Morgan back at the turn of the century, early 1900's, made the first three wheeler.  In the UK a three wheeler was cheaper on tax than a four wheeler.  So he ended up starting Morgan Motor Car Co.  They made the three wheelers up through 1953 with just a few changes over the many years of production.  Morgan started four wheelers in the early '50s and around 2012 bought out Liberty Cycle Car and started their new M3W as they're called.

They run around $50k and up.  There is a waiting of about six months right now for the new 2014 models.

Guess what, they have a compensator that looks like a modified version of the HD compensator.  And guess what again, they've had tons of failures with them.  They are on their third design now and it's more of a cush drive than a compensator and it's made for them by Centa in Europe.  This version seems to be working better, but it's making the driveline sound different to the owners and they're not sure why yet.

They use a space tube steel frame and the aluminium, not aluminum, body is attached to an ash wood frame work.  The frame work is than bolted to the tube frame.

You can do a quick search on YouTube for hundreds of video clips.  There is just a few recent ones from a couple in Michigan that took their Mini and M3W down to the Dragon and spent a few days there cruising the Dragon and taking videos, pretty cool ride.

That should get some of your minds thinking about one...   :2vrolijk_21:  :2vrolijk_21:  :2vrolijk_21:

Here are some of the hundreds of pictures I've accumulated on the M3W's and other reverse trikes.

Enjoy.

I'll start with the old original Morgan Three Wheelers.  Some of these have real styling that is even cool today.

Now the current M3W with the S&S motor.

That's enough to make you all drool...

Sweet!  It was certainly sharp looking in person. My picture was in a parking garage under the Essex House Hotel at Central Park. $50K seems high, but then it is a specially built machine. I'd love to have one for Sunday afternoon rides.

We had a chapter visit to the Moran factory two yrs ago . That model was almost ready then.
Most sales are out of the uk but three wheeler s can be driven on a bike licence here .
Most popular models Morgan 4 plus 4 start around £30,000 . >£125,000.
