Needless to say fishing is the revenue generator here…

The owner of the hotel shared a story regarding fishing here.  The fisherman never learned how to swim because if they were capsized at sea they wanted to go straight down.  This would not delay the inevitable.

To his knowledge the town had never lost a fisherman to the ocean however they did lose a few in the bay tying up boats.   :(

Our motel for the evening…while the motel is off the Cabot Trail I would highly recommend this place, nice owner with some great stories to tell, besides you will see the other reasons too.   :2vrolijk_21: :sunny:

But before we take the sunset in let’s eat!  We headed to Meat Cove, of course, but…besides we were not sure of the restaurant opportunities there…~ 7 miles of gravel to get there…turn around time.

The name Meat Cove comes from when fishing fleets used the natural protected cove to come ashore and hunt moose to replenish their supplies. The name Meat Cove, came from the smell of cooking meat that sailors could catch down wind as they approached the cove from many miles away. The cove was a place to lay away and hunt and get fresh water before sailing on.
