Upon rolling out we would take Highway One, the Evangeline Trail to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.  Our first stop would be a sad one.  This Catholic Church was being torn down and being sold for scrap wood.  The person performing the work stated that the church had been open several times but with little to no attendance.  He stated that the Catholic religion was dead in Nova Scotia.    :(

It has been for sale for years and no takers.  Now the bank was selling the wood for recovery of some funds.

The Evangeline Trail is located in the western part of the province, bringing us to the Minas Basin, the Annapolis Valley and the Gulf of Maine. The route connects Mount Uniacke in Hants County with Yarmouth.

It would have been here that I arrived if conditions were different.  The CAT ferry was parked at the dock.  I was informed by a local that it had really impacted their business as I suspect it would.  No one knows the source of the real issue but money and politics are certain to be involved.

Cape Forchu Lightstation, the first “applecore” style lighthouse, is located 7 miles from the town of Yarmouth.

The original station was demolished in 1961 and replaced in 1962 with the "apple core" tower.
