My journey from the Trail would take me down 19 and 4 to stay off the “big road”.  When arriving in New Glasgow it was time for a Walmart journey as they had not seen me for over a week now!      
 
Dinner would be brief as it was getting late.  An A&W Root Beer Float Please!

Day Twelve | New Glasgow, Nova Scotia – Digby, Nova Scotia | 275 miles

Once again, my travels would take me off of the “big road” and hug the shoreline!  I would be traveling on the Glooscap Trail for the most part.

East Hants is Home of the World’s Highest Tides and the Tidal Bore!

Powered by the world famous Bay of Fundy tidal bore, Nova Scotia’s tidal bore rafting tours are unlike any other rafting experience on the planet.

Imagine floating on a calm, peaceful river taking in the scenic cliffs one moment, and seeing it transformed into raging rapids the next. Twice a day when the tide changes, the bore temporarily reverses the flow of the river, creating incredible roller coaster rapids.

Unfortunately the timing of the tide did not work for this journey however it will be on the list for my return visit.  A MUST DO!

As an alternative, I journeyed down to Burntcoat Head Park.

Burntcoat Head Park is home of the world`s highest recorded tides.

The replica lighthouse contains an interpretive centre about the Fundy tides, old lighthouses, and the history of the area.

From the top of the lighthouse you can obtain a bird’s eye view.

160 billion tones of water flow daily into the basin every 13 hours which is more than the combined flow of the world’s freshwater rivers!

Burntcoat Head has an average tide of 47.5 feet with an extreme range of 53.6 feet.
