Mean City is close by for me. They told me not only the Hammock, they now will not work on any CVO seat, heat or not. Would not touch a stock '13 SERK seat.

Did they happen to say why? Just curious.

Two more cents about the Airhawk Cruiser R: It fits like it was literally made for the hammock seat, front or rear. Two, there is no need to strap it to the bike, as it has a "sticky rubber" bottom on the cover that will not slide around once seated. This allows you to just throw it in the saddlebag or TP when you are not on the bike.

Once the bladder is adjusted properly, there is rarely a need to make further adjustments. The trick is to blow it up, sit on the bike, then slowly bleed air out of the valve until you are just slightly off the stock seat support.  Because of the interconnected bladder, it should feel like you are sitting on Jello...when you shift your butt, it feels "squishy" as the air moves around in the bladder. The top of the cover is a very breathable material that allows some air flow.  And yes, you can still feel the heated seat when needed, though of course there is some insulation factor due to the air in the bladder.

X2...Love my Air Hawk...The tendency is to over inflate it so if it feels like its not working properly let a little more air out.

They won't work on them because of the heating units and the "hammock" structure.

I'm leaning toward Mustang's "Super Touring Vintage" seat and was wondering if anyone could tell me how it's ride height compares to the H-D Hammock? I wrote Mustang but they don't know.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe-

FWIW-I have the Mustang super touring seat and it sits you slightly back and down compared to my 2010 Hammock seat.  Every year CVO hammock seat though has been made a little different.

Hope this helps as I don't know what the Vintage is..

Thanks Boatman. The Vintage appears to be a plain seat as opposed to the Regal, which has buttons in it, and the other option which has studs on the sides. If it's lower than the Hammock I'll be good. I wouldn't want it to be much higher. Mustang says this seat moves the driver back 1 3/4". Do you know if they do this by taking away from the BSR or is it done at the driver's back rest? I'm looking for a seat to make my wife more comfortable and I don't need to make her seat any shorter.

Yes, the BSR space is smaller. i bought one in Sturgis a couple of years ago and they shipped my old one home. I love it at 6-4, but I didn't realize the squeeze until my wife got on and complained, especially with the rider backrest in place.  Now to ride double I remove the rider backrest and move the tourpack back as far as it will go.

On my 13 CVO UC my wife complained that her seat tilts her forward and she is constantly being moved against me and having to reposition herself. She bought an air hawk and that took care of that problem!

We ride a lot of 400 - 500 mile days and both of us find this setup to be very comfortable

I have the Mustang Wide touring I had on my 09. My wife and I both liked it. I just got a Hammock and my wife likes it better. If you were looking for a Wide Touring seat I would be willing to sell it. One thing I found that helps my wife on any seat is a Sheep Skin cover. I actually just bought a cheap sheep skin off e-bay and throw it over the seat when we are traveling. The riders backrest keeps it in place. Just take it off and throw it in a saddle bag when stopped. Not the best looking, but my wife has done 750 mile days without complaining.

Good Luck

Believe it or not, she can actually ride longer on the stock seat than she can with the Zeppelin or the other seat pad she has.

I haven't used the Zeppelin, but one important thing on the Airhawk, and probably on the Zep too:  Make sure you don't have too much air in it.  That's the most common problem with them; they work so much better with only a small amount--without the cover, it should look almost empty.  Fill it about half-way, sit, and let air out until it is soft and squishy, but your butt isn't resting on the seat; you still feel air underneath when you shift your weight.

I was able to go from about 150 to 200 miles on the hammock seat to riding 600 miles per day without butt ache.

Joe, I have been looking to have my hammock modified and found this info on one of the forums.  Give Pat a shout and he can explain your options with the hammock.   patmitchell@ridenleather.com........

Okay I sent A Dresser seat to Mean City Cycles and had the front rework which lowered me and this thing really feels good but it did raise my wife she thought her helmet was too big now it was getting caught in the win and moving around so I got an air Hawk for me which raised me I half-inch and that cured the problem. Also this air Hawk seat is really nice moral of the story is be careful about raising one person higher or lower than the other but we are now both happy and I think I'll send the seat back to him mCC and have hers lowered A half an inch i'm telling you we could both end up with an Air hawk this is on a 2009 screaming Eagle Road glide.
