I reject this post and idea completely and …………………………….save a lot of money. ;DLOL Do you think the 10.5 pistons from the 110 upgrade kit are high? I have had that kit in the Fatbob and have had no issue at all for over 10k miles.

A lot to be said for a good running 110". :2vrolijk_21:

Unbalanced my rejection of your post was a joke. I was hoping you would see that with the LOL stuff. The point was if I leave as is I will save $. That is something that has been impossible for me to do on any bike so far so I expect that I will do some mods on the new bike as well. I just want to make the right changes for me and my wallet. I will be asking more about cams and stuff so fell free to give you input.

Thanks Hillsidecycle also.

I agree for the avg guy doing the work... For  shops such as us that install a fair mount of these in a year it makes sense, to have that as an option to the end consumer.. or client .. customer . As many of the 124 that go into the CVO bikes gets powder coated to match any ways. But
Granite is on the menu soon.

Is this true ? GRANITE When? I was just about to order a 120r and was wondering if anybody had any pics they could post of the black cases with the granite just to have a look  Thanks

S&S is about to offer a granite finish soon as was told to us months ago.
Ultra-Coat, in Utica, NY, as well as Sumax, in Oriskany, NY, has had that availability for quite some time now, that we have used.
Whait is really quite a nice look most times, is to have the heads and cylinders color-matched to the sheet metal.
Both of those outfits can do that. :2vrolijk_21:

From our eyes, an S&S 124", while it may cost a bit more intially, is truely the better value that features many aspects that the 120R does not............including a warranty, along with a crank that will stay put.
We have a client in Syracuse, NY, that last we knew had over 85,000 miles on his 124". :)

In my experience if I were going larger  I would rather go with S&S over the HD or Jim's.  I would upgrade what I had or use SE Cases I am not a fan of the new S&S cases though.   The cases as strong and meaty and capable of big inch but the oil passing is ugly and scares me that the lines are too exposed to belt or chains for the drive line.

Harry
I agree and know of a CNC shop that provides proven machine work to properly reroute the oil passages on the trans interface.
The 120r (or HD kit from stock cases) can be made to work very well too with a few parts substitutions and blueprinting
I also agree with you on compression levels. We often hear the term "optimum" in reference to compression. Well there is optimum for a dyno run and there is optimum for a cross country cruiser and they are not the same. The pump and dump (cam and heads) routine HD used on the SE110 motor creates a torquey hot running, short lived, and octane sensitive combination.
