World Cup Soccer...
« on: June 22, 2014, 08:03:15 PM »

How does the play of World Cup soccer teams compare to the play of some of the professional soccer leagues, such as the English Premiere League or Brazilian League Soccer?  Which are regarded as the more talented teams (if the World Cup winning team played the winner of one of the professional leagues, which team would be favored to win)?  Are the World Cup teams made up of professional League players, or are they completely separate teams/players?   :nixweiss:

I've watched enough of both (World Cup and English Premiere League) to be mildly interested, but have not watched enough to really understand the sport.

I think the Professional or Premier league players return to their home/native country to play on that country's national team for the world cup tourny. So a star player from say Germany who play for Manchester United in the Pros would go home to play for Germany during the world cup - just like the Olympics.  As far as the World cup champs playing the Professional league champs, that would be an interesting matchup.

Just so long as the announcer is from Spain and does that GOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! Yell  :2vrolijk_21:

They were ranked #2 in the world entering the cup so it should be a good game. At least I hope it's closer than the last one they played.  that was almost painful to watch.

To the op.  Yes players return to their home country to play for there teams.  Like hockey for the Olympics.

Nice job Germany.
