My mistake guys. It was a misquote and should have read 46287-04. I also assumed the lock set secured the lid rather than the bag to the frame. Unfortunately I don't know of anyone who bought a set.

Thanks man. How you liking the new ride? You must be freezing up there. Are you saying that the lock secures the bag to the bike and not lock the lid? I was hoping I could replace the button with a lock. That would essentially allow the bag to work the same as hard bags. Definitely need to secure the bags to the bike in NYC! was hoping I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Have a great holiday.

the locks just replace the button. leave the button where it is and just move the cable to the lock switch.  THE LOCK,,,, locks the lid so the bag can't be opened without the key.  if they can't open the bag,, they can't remove the bag.   remember,,  locks only keep honest people out and dicourage others.  if they really want in,,,,, they will find a way. just don't park your bike where no one can see it.  don't forget,,, the bikes are also alarmed. be happy to answer any other questions I can.  I am going to purchase a set of locks for the new one.  my wife doesn't have bags on her bike,  and uses one of mine, and likes to lock up her purse, so she doesn't have to lug it everywhere.  of course she does take her wallet. hey you never know. Yes, thanks H-T. So it's the key everytime to open the bag. I will probably find that a bind when I'm not leaving the bike. Unless you can leave the bag in the "unlocked" position? But I guess the lock returns to the "locked" position automatically when the key is removed so the bag is secure when the lid is closed...will H-T confirm? I suppose I could just fix a lock to one bag for valuables and leave the other for lazy convenience.

leave the button where it is,,  the lock gets put near the back, so you can reach it and water doesn't get in to it.  and NO it does not by itself,  and does not have to be locked.  when you want it locked, you push the key in and turn. to unlock, push key in and turn back. [smiley=apple.gif]
