Another Fueling 574C Cam install
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:06:26 PM »

13 CVO Roadglide
Stock Heavy Breather Air Cleaner
Fueling cam plate
Fueling Oil Pump
Fueling 574C Cams
S&S Premium lifters
S&S Adjustable Pushrods
Fullsac "D" X-pipe"
Fullsac 2" CVO Cores

No other internal mods!

113.26 HP and 118.6 Ft Lb Torque

By the way, we tested with and without the billet cover over the heavy breather and found no difference in peak numbers. Was very surprised by this as the cover blocks about 1/2 the filter.

Jim, very nice.

I see all the things you did, but no new thinner head gaskets?

It seems like everyone is almost mandating the thinner head gaskets with cams to get that extra bump in the HP.

I'm looking at doing something to my '09 SERG as the noise in the valve train is still making me almost sick every time we ride.  I've got 13k miles, not many by heavy riding standards, but I also thought that I'd head off any issues with lifters by changing them out along with pushrods.  But at the same time it's not that much more to swap out the cams.

I was still thinking about the Andrews 54's.  But your install looks great too, especially the torque curve for my two up riding style.

So anyway, nice job...

Have a great weekend.

no new head gaskets, only internal mods were listed in the first post. This is one of the best curves we've seen with the 574 cams as a bolt in. The Fullsac "d" xpipe and 2" cores did it's job as well. This cam is quiet and valve train noise is minimal. The 54's work as well but I like the way the 574 cam carries out a wide flat curve.

Wonder what kind if numbers would have been with some compression and a bigger intake.   :confused5:

Great results from a very simple combo. Glad I could be part of this one! Thanks Jim!

How does the Andrews 54 look different in the torque curve?  I did a three day tour and noticed I really ride most of the time between 2200 and 3200 rpm. Except the two times I got her up to 110mph. :huepfenlol2:

I thought we weren't supposed to run the 110 that low in RPM's?  :nixweiss: I keep hearing it needs to be run 2800ish or higher?

How do you think this 574 cam would work with the SE heads and 10.5 pistons on a 103? better than the 255 or Andrews 54?

There have been quite a few discussions about what constitutes lugging the engine and we all agree that is not good. The issue is at what load/speed/rpm that occurs. Under light load and acceleration the motor seems quite comfortable to run from 2200 on up. Below 2000rpm and going full throttle is probably not good. I can feel the thump thump struggle if the rpm  are low and load is high and I avoid all that.

IMO there is plenty of safe power below 2800rpm.

I'm with you. To me it's kind of a common sense issue. I frequently run 2400-2600 cruising

It would depend on which heads and pistons being used. You have now stepped into building a package and not just a bolt in application. All of the components need to play well together or you could end up with a turd.
