LD Goes 103
« on: December 09, 2006, 02:54:11 PM »

I picked up my 07 Road Glide " Los Dragon" from San Diego H-D this morning and went for a quick 50 mile run to see how I like it. I like it just fine. Thanks to some good advice from Harry, I picked my own indivudual pieces for the 96" to 103 " upgrade rather than buy the complete kit the MoCo sells. Thanks Harry ! Bike runs great, more across the spectrum power, lot more grunt, less shifting. I am very pleased with it. Dyno #'s would not impress any of you, but the power band is sweet and both TQ and HP have nice even upward curves, no weird spikes or dips. Jimmy, the tech who did the work told me to break it in right for 500 miles, dump the oil and put AMSOIL in it and then run it another 500 and he will put it on the dyno again and dial it in even better. He had to work the SERT a bit to get it where he wanted it and felt that once it's broken in he can do a better job and also push up the numbers a bit. There still are no standard downloads for 07 models. We're shooting for 108 TQ and 104HP. Below that now as we should be since everything is brand new.

Sounds like a sweet combination Brian.  You got LD twisted and tweaked to your particular tastes in short order too.  Congrats on getting the latest job done.  Hope it runs every bit as well as you hoped it would.

One question though.  You were so pleased with the exhaust note when the engine was in stock form.  Have the changes altered that?

I may not have said it yesterday bro,  But nice job on LD.....Lot's of grunt down low (where you want it).  Now we gotta get Hank's bike up to snuff,    so maybe we can ALL ride like animals again!!!
I was very impressed with the low end torque (didn't take it much past 4K rpm) but I could definately tell there was more going on inside there than when you brought it home.......Enjoy the day today.....I'll call you from Milwaukee...

Got a couple hundred on the new top end, so I pushed it up to 5K rpm's a couple times this afternoon. Nice cool day, engine was good and warm. I have to say, my intent was only to set up this bike with the same power as Elvis so going from one to the other would be seamless in most ways. Because the stock 103 CVO heads are as we all know, not exactly a performance head and the stock cams are SE203's LD has a bunch more go fast than Elvis. Won't know how much exactly till I can really let er rip, but I can tell already it's got more. So this worked out well and I've got a big smile on my face. And that, is always a good thing.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Brian there is nothing wrong with 203 cams you can pull tree stumps out with them. Glad your happy with the power it will take 5000 miles to get it all.

Brian

Congrats on the 2500!
I look forward to your next 2500.
Unless of course that only takes a few days ;D.
Get LD on the dyno soon and let us know the results.
Now get off the puter and start waxing!
