Seat Height
« on: July 02, 2014, 11:38:45 AM »

From the 2009 to the 2014 ...It is Now almost requiring me to have to wear shoes, After going so long without them, this is going to take some getting used to, having to stretch out more....As I still refuse to wear them until winter sets in...I am still considering doing the back shocks to lower..

Lol. I hope you wear pants,   Don't your feet get hot on black top at a stop light?

:confused5:  Interesting?? I'm getting the bare foot vibe too... So, you ride shoeless? I do have a friend that only rides with flip flops, unless he thinks it's too cold out  :) But, I too have wondered about swapping my rear shocks to feel more flat footed at stops.

I have a feeling the biggest difference is the change in the seats Harley installs these days.  Rather than reduce ground clearance and lean angle with shorter shocks, I would highly recommend a better seat that allows you to sit lower and has a narrower nose section so it allows you to get your legs and thus your feet closer to the bike.

X2. These sleds already sit low sacrificing suspension travel. I use tall soles and a narrow seat pan.

neudlstu75, I believe I have posted about this before, but I took my bike into an upholstery shop and had the seat on my 09 contoured to fit me. The shop also installed a gel pad, and the seat heater still works fine. It works great and the cost was $450.00. Now at 5'9" I can put both feet flat on the ground in tennis shoes. We did not do anything to the passenger seat. Buying the HD low profile shocks is a waste of money. The difference is not even noticeable. JMHO. CAHDBIKER

YEs I ride barefoot and have done this for over 50 years, yes the Texas heat does stick to the black top, Mostly all I wear is short pants, and  Wiley X, A lot of People do freak out, there are a few exceptions, cold weather, and hailing....90% of my riding is like this at an average of 50K a year, no shirt/no shoes/no helmet...once you do it---it is hard to get away from it....Just a big Feeling of good ole FREEDOM

Wow, no shoes, no shirt, and wearing shorts for 50K miles per year?   :nixweiss:  You're one lucky guy to not have had a high speed accident (get off).  I've been riding over 50 years too and the last time I rode like that was on my first motorscooter (Allstate Cruisaire) made by Vespa when I was 10 years old in 1957. To each their own but there's no way I'd consider riding like that today!!
