We'll be doing the same thing in the same location.  If anybody's in the area, you're invited.....have access to two third floor balconys water side.  :2vrolijk_21:

RED, WHITE & BLUE baby!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that all of you had a great Independance Day and weekend and I hope you enjoyed the photo tribute.

I've tried shooting fireworks before but they just kind of fell flat.  After viewing these photos, two things are abunduntly clear.....the background composition has a lot to do with the end result as does the timing of when to press the shutter trip (approx. 2 seconds before I think the next blast is going to happen).  Truth be known.....I deleated a couple hundred shots that just didn't make it.  While the barges timing was spot on, mine was......well.....just a tad bit off.   :nervous:

Looks like you are on the San Diego bay side of Coronado, well positioned for the fireworks on the other side.  We are in the Shores and watch the display on Glorietta Bay.  The weather looks perfect.
Have a great fourth.

I am on the bay side.  They have five barges up and down the bay that the fire works are set off from, simultaneously.....three of those barges can be seen in several of the pics.  The other two barges are the other direction from my location.

The Shores area is already over crowded.  Took the dogs down the to dog park on the strand about an hour ago and there isn't any open parking spaces on the Silver Strand at all but still a couple thousand cars driving in circles looking.

Spidy, someone told me they are on the aggresive list. I didn't know that.

Per: http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/dalmatians.html

A good Dalmatian is a dependable, dignified gentleman, yet high-spirited and playful. A good Dalmatian. However, there are lot of poorly-bred Dalmatians around, and these dogs can have serious temperament flaws. In addition, even a good Dalmatian needs plenty of exercise and companionship. Too much confinement (especially without the companionship of his family) and too little mental stimulation lead to boredom, hyperactivity, and destructive behaviors.

When our girls were younger we never missed 4th of July on Coronado. We'd get there early for the parade and stay trough the afternoon and enjoy all the sights sounds and smells of the folks that camped out overnight. The City of Coronado allows camping in Glorietta Bay Park once a year and you get huge families that set up like the Army on bivouac. I assure you Donald Trump would change his tune if he spent some time with the people on the 4th. Anyway, the highlliht of course was the fireworks. I think we used to see displas from San Diego, Coronado, Pacific Beach, Sea World,Chula Vista and Imperial Beach. It went on and on and on and on. We still live in Dago, but are here in Maine during the summer.  We get several cities to watch here Upta Camp though with the little town of Frye Island providing the best because the island is right out front.

We had to stay up late enough to see what all the noise was about....being the largest fire works display on the west coast. I went up to the second floor balcony and set up my tripod to get these shots.  People started staking out their spots with blackets, chairs, pop-ups, etc. early in the morning and hung out all day just to see the fire works from this side.

Here are several photos that I took before the fireworks, just to show you what our view is every evening....

Headed up to the Hollister Independence Rally this 4th of July so we'll be missing the fireworks here in Coronado.   :nixweiss:

**NOTE**  Just to the left of center in this photo you'll notice a string of red and blue lights that raise up to a tower in the center.  That's the USS Midway.  http://www.midway.org/    It's now a museum that's open to the public for tour.

And soon the radios blared....."let the fireworks begin!" and the music started..........

These photos shows fire works going off on three of the six barges.  Their timing was definately set to military standard.....
