What pipe are you running? A few of the 2-1 pipes  have less than 1 inch clearance from rear pipe to oil bag. This will jack the oil temps extremely fast .  We just delt with this as the customer swapped from a staggered pipe to a 2-1 and it was super heating the oil. I can not get my finger between the pipe and the oil bag.  :nixweiss:  n

The Bassani 2/1, short megaphones. They actually have much more clearance between the pipes and oil tank & lines than the stiock pipes.

To Independent_1, I agree that I am in the "uninformed" section in regards to the mechanics. You explanation is very helpful to understand why I do need a proper tune. Many people are quick to say get one but I don't like doing something unless I know the reasoning, otherwise I have no benchmark to determine if the tuner did the right thing. It is only worth the cost of a dyno to have it done correctly and I don't know of a reputable tuner in my area.

Good luck on the tune .  Eastern performance in MD , Bayside, Skips,  Big state and depending on where in that state you live. Maybe a area that you are close to.

Surely someone on this forum can chime in on a real tuner in your area.

IF your willing to take a approx. a 3 hour drive for your tune, you have Ken Puzio in NJ  (BlackHills Ken on HTT).   He would be the guy to go see, again if your willing to take a drive it would be worth the trip and he is a helluva good guy.

Call T-Man Performance and ask him who's the best around. Looks like he's about 4hrs south of you.

Consider Dave Stoddard, (formerly of JDs Performance) now at Pocono HD in PA. One of the best.

Why did he go out of business, as JD's?

Time and hassle.  He was working all the time and couldn't find anyone to help him that worked to his standards.  He's much happier now and actually has time to ride.

TMan won't do a tune unless his stuff is in the bike. I tried a month a go.  :(

I knew that but failed to clarify. Does he have anyone else he would recommend in the area is what I meant. If not, maybe a set of his cams would be enough to get him to jump? I'm not sure he the one that actually does the tuning process anyway, not that it matters. The best tuners are the ones that make whatever they have in front of them run to the best of it's potential AND are not burnt out on making that happen, are willing to spend more time than they might have measured it up at 1st glance to get it just right, have patience, knowledge, persistence, determination and all of that... again. Every tune is different, even if the parts used are the same.

I suppose if you can't handle the heat, it is time to get out of the kitchen.
Got 30 years in the kitchen here now................. :)
