Guys, this bike is not made for you,  Its made for beginners, a 500 and 750 are solid starter bikes.  It gets people in the the Harley Store that would not be there last year

I think its smart

While it is a starter bike I think if HD is going to come to play in this market then they should be competitive with the others in this size/cost bike range. While it's there to get people in the door, it's going to be a tough sell when it cost more and produces less than the others. I know HD get's away a lot but I do not think it's going to fly in this market segment.

Honda 2014 CB500F $5,799  42.9 hp and 29.19 lb-ft
HD 2015 500 Street $6,799  32.9 hp and 28.2 lb-ft

I agree, HD will do well at first but once the overpriced novelty wears off sales will steall. If HD wants to keep a piece of that market then they're definitely going to have to be more competitive then that. If they priced the bike at around $4,999 they'd get that segments attention and move some of product.

They are going to have the same issues with the 750 too. Price/performance wise they have to compete with Honda, Kawasaki ect on the world market. They have over priced them here in the USA but who knows what they sell for outside of the USA.

The reported numbers for the HD 750 are 57.6 Hp and 43.2 TQ  $7499
Kawasaki 650 reported numbers are 63.7 Hp and 43.2 TQ    $7699

The big deal is going to be if people compare the quality of the build and look as the Kawasaki and Honda's are well finished right out of the box.

I have fondled one of these and was not turned on in the least. It's a street hooker compared to a girl from Scores.
Looks to be straight out of a Matel toy factory in China. It may be well made but it looks cheap like an old v-twin Yamaha.
Young people in the market today in the USA are well aware of performance and what to look for.  Foreigners not so much.

I have looked at one at the dealer and I was not impressed at all. It looks outdated like it was made in 1980 at best. I don't think it looks well made and the fit and finish looks to be around 1970.
I'm sorry but even a beginner bike deserves better quality and more for your money.
After seeing the bike I regress, I wouldn't pay no more than $3500 for the 750, and wouldn't even buy the 500.

All true, but they will be bought by those who want to say I drive a Harley.  Its a show bike in name only

Some people will recall when HD was running a deal on bikes.. Buy a new big twin get a free buell blast. Today I wish I would have done it. Those silly  things are still getting big money.. Pit bike that is street legal. I see them pulling race cars running around the pits with big baskets on them full of crap. Saw one run at Bonneville ..

Some one will install a pipe and a intake. Will post a dyno run that shows 120/120 with ease. Watch.

The numbers really aren't that bad for a 30 cubic inch engine. Actually, the HP:Displacement ratio is better than a stock 110, it's just lower than what we normally see or aspire to on this forum. Different animal for a different audience.

-in Europe the 750er Street only
-base price a shade under 8,000.00€ ≈ 11,000.00$  8)
-two colors for an extra fee possible
-hp output 56PS/42kW (at the crankshaft or the rear wheel :nixweiss:)

most people buying Japanese bikes of this style are just riding them and not much else...I am sure HD will have some accessories out for these to capture more of their customers money, which is not necessarily typical for the other manufacturers...they let the aftermarket get the money, if anything.
the two I looked at today looked fine for "entry" level bikes and they don't ride badly either...as long as you recognize they are not my CVO Limited.
