shipping my new CVO from dealer to home
« on: July 22, 2014, 05:19:48 PM »

Hi all, I posted something similar just now in the newbie section. I am just finalizing the purchase of my first CVO, a beautiful 2010 FXDFSE2. I am shipping it from Arkansas to Miami, and I am in between using Haulbikes and Federal Motorcycle transport. If anyone can offer some feedback on using one or the other or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Cant wait to have my new baby at home! They say it could take up to two weeks, oh boy I don't know if I can wait that long.

You could ,rather than wait two weeks on delivery, fly out and ride her back. That would only be two to three days and you would be riding! ;D

Excellent plan! You'd be hard pressed to top a road trip on a new bike

Ditto to that....nothing like a road trip on a new bike getting to know her and all.

Earlier this year I flew out from Massachusetts to Michigan to purchase a cvo road glide from a member here. My wife came with me. We landed in Michigan at 9 am on Saturday and were on the road at approx noon. Rode along Lake Erie (USA side) all the way to Niagara Falls on Saturday and then rode home from there on Sunday.

Approaching the last 20 miles or so towards Niagara Falls, with the sun setting, you could feel the difference in the coolness in the air. Was awesome to see the Falls all lit up at night. Great place to visit but wouldn't want to live there

Anyways, good luck with your new bike. If you can't wait for the shipper, just fly out there and drive it back. Although I can understand if you want to break it in differently

Ditto on the fly and ride. We flew to Las Vegas last year to pick up a new BMW and rode it home. Shipped our gear there, dealer picked us up at 8AM, and we were on our way by 10:30.

This is my opinion only but don't trailer your bike. They are made to ride :orange:

I could help plan the route from AR to FL. It could take a couple weeks to get there though. Isn't the Smokies and Dragon kind of a direct route? Yep 2 weeks.....lol. Enjoy the new ride no matter how it get home.

it's a 2010, i would hope that it's already broken in  :bananarock:

agreed that the ride from ar to fl would be a nice little vacation, but the op may not be able to take that much time.....  too bad  :nixweiss:

I might could be persuaded to fly out to AR and ride it back to Miami, just cover expenses.  ;D  Because I'm a nice guy!

If you ship it, they will scratch it. Better ride it.  I saw this in a dream.   :nervous:
