Renting a 2015
« on: August 29, 2014, 09:45:35 PM »

Anyone know when the 15 models can be rented? I'd love to try a limited low.

Went to a dealer show last night and they had the owners 5'2" daughter ride a low out for the crowd. Popular bike and should sell well but does not fit my 6' body. It's basically a Limited with lowered shocks and seat and pullback bars. Couple of touches are a reduced width primary cover to help reach to ground, reduced size passenger boards and drag warning lugs on driver boards. I'm interested in trying a road glide as colors are much better than Limiteds.

I don't think they made the low to fit 6 foot tall riders so you shouldn't be surprised that it didn't fit you any more then I should trying to fit on a regular Ultra.

My wife is thinking about trying a Limited low.  Shows a lower seat height than her Street glide.

We are about read to trade her 13 Street glide as she is over 40K miles on it in 16 months.

How tall is she Dave? I rode one at demo days today and it felt like a mini bike. EVERYTHING on that bike is more compact for the rider.

Well that's pretty smart to alter more than just seat and suspension. Saves someone a lot of green to make it fit just right.

This may be a bit of topic.  But when I was in the dealer looking and asking of the 2015 Road Glide Ultra.  The first thing
I said is the bars would have to come off as they seem low.  He informed me that they are not a standard bar, that they have pins in them.  Not a regular clamp down type bar.  May want to check into that as well.  Also on a note for the 2015 Ultra.  Not trading in my 2012 FLTRXSE with just short of 13,000 miles.  Too much $$$.  One dealer quoted me $19,000 difference out the door.  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/Smileys/CVO/drummer.gif

She is 5'7".  She really liked the bars on the Road Glide Special.  Will be interesting to see how the Limited low fits her.

I am sure aftermarket will have a solution fast.  I do not think the new Road Glide bars will work for me, come back way to far, and way to low for my liking.

Anyone know when the 15 models can be rented? I'd love to try a limited low.

don't know if the rental fleets will have the '15's yet, maybe not until next spring??  The dealer I frequent usually has a fall and spring open house event where the HD demo truck shows up and that is when I try out the different models. they have a short 20 mile or so route they lead you on. Yes, it's a short ride but it does give you an idea if a bike fits you - it has often helped me decide which models I wouldn't consider.

Renting a model your interested in is the way to go though if you really want to know if it's the bike for you, it also helps eliminate those that the "boss" won't approve  ;D

I guess I'm just really excited there's a bike specifically made for us sawed off little pricks.

Jesse I sat on the Low at the museum today, and it felt funny PLANTING my feet on the ground (5'8").I think everything on the bike is much
better for short people. I have no problems with the normal bikes, seeing as I've been riding them for many years, but the new Low should be a homerun
for the us little people.

You could always take a ride to York for their open house later this month and ride the '15 there.
