Please Help TTS
« on: September 07, 2014, 11:34:36 AM »

Have been using TTS on my 2009 with MT7 files. I regularly upgrade and just needed to use the tuner yesterday. When I tried to install a test map the MasterTune opened it with a warning that said my file was obsolete and I would need to copy contents to a new file. When I went looking for the base map it was gone along with all my older cals. The bike had been dyno tuned so I don't know what the original map was for. I just know it was UJ 205002-000. I installed the legacy applications and they would not open my newer cal at all.  WTH?

I need original MT7 cals and a couple of versions older programs I guess?????? Why cant new programs be backward compatible? This is a giant hassle.

Thanks Jim...l

All your old calibrations are still on your PC. TTS does not remove them, so the only way they are gone is if you or some other program did it.

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\My Documents\TTS\HD\MasterTune-HD would be where the old Mastertune program by default stored the programs but you can change that at any time.

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\My Documents\TTS\HD\Calibrations would be where the Mastertune2 program by default stores the programs but you can change that at any time.

My guess is they are still there, your just looking in the wrong place for them. As for the warning message telling you you need to upgrade to new calibration files that was done several releases ago to get the new features into the calibrations. Look up how to copy multiple tables and it only takes a few key strokes to convert an old calibration up to a current one.

I think I must have done an uninstall of the Legacy TTS programs in Windows after upgrading to the newer programs, so that is probably where my old files got deleted. I did run a reinstall of the Legacy apps and cals but it only put in the newer cals and the older Mastertune would not open my newer MT7s. I'll try to convert to MT8 but I did like the MT7s better.

Even if you uninstall the TTS programs it leaves all the calibration files on the PC. So I think if you look around they will still be there.

Steve, searched the hard drives on all three computers for MT7 and only results were the ones I had used in earlier tunings. ?

Even if you install the Legacy apps, and add the cals thru the updater, you still only get the newest ones from A to F

Also, when I open the newer cals and paste in my tables, I get a strange result. If I load Mastertune first and then select a cal it loads. But if I just click on the newer cal first, Mastertune opens and then says the cal cant be loaded because it is corrupt. On same cal?

Again we do not remove any calibrations from your PC. We however update our product with the latest calibrations each time we do an update if necesssary. So that means all your going to get from our updates is the latest calibrations at the time you update. Legacy is just the old Mastertune programs but the calibrations are still the newest ones.

Not sure what your doing but the process is simple to do.

1. Load your current calibration and select Copy multiple tables
2. Copy those tables you wish to keep
3. Load new replacement calibration
4. Select Paste multiple tables
5. Save new made calibration with new file name
6. Program new calibration to ECM

Yep, exactly how I did it. An open Mastertune will load the file, but clicking on the file first opens Mastertune with the corrupted file message. Not a big deal, I just have to open Mastertune first. Everything else works. The laptop I am using is XP, and I noticed you mentioned some problems with that. Again, not a big deal just thought you should know about that quirk. Just ran the new file with VTune and everything worked perfectly. So, back on the road again.

Thanks Steve.

XP is dead player now days and the tools we use to write code with will not support anything to do with XP. As a matter of fact all suppliers of code writing tools dropped XP support about 5 years ago. So there is most likely going to be things we just have to live with on the older machines, but we do the best we can with what we have to work with. Just for the record they have also dropped support for Vista and earlier now. So they are pushing hard to try and get everyone into newer PC's with at least Windows 7 on them.

Open Mastertune first

1. Load your current calibration and select Copy multiple tables
2. Copy those tables you wish to keep

Do not close mastertune or try and copy them over to an already open mastertune cal.

3. Load new replacement calibration
4. Select Paste multiple tables
5. Save new made calibration with new file name
6. Program new calibration to ECM

Tips in red that I have learned the long way.  If you put the name of the cal you are looking in windows search under start, or even the 3 letters.  It will find it.

Yep HTH, got that, this is a different problem.

Steve, I can start using my newer laptop with Windows 7, I just preferred XP because it is much faster than 7 and way, way faster than my Vista laptop. Might be an illusion but seems like XP picks up data with VTune much better as well. OH Well, cant stop the garbage disposal of Progress I guess. :2vrolijk_21:

Bill Gates, where is my kickback? I already have 3 perfectly fine laptops and you are getting rich off me buying a fourth, LOL.... :drummer:
