Passenger signaling.
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:19:56 PM »

I've heard that it is illegal for the passenger to give hand signals. Is this true? If so, where? Thanks  :bananarock:

My wife signals when we are in very heavy traffic or a bike rally, it does coincide with my turn signals, don't know if that matters. Would like to know. Research time, see what I can find.

The only signals I let my passenger give are the customary waves to other bikers or a thank you wave to courteous drivers...anything else is on me.
There will not be any hand turn signals or signals for someone to proceed at an all way stop...etc. That can be very dangerous...imo.

Ya'll do what works for you! My BSR uses hand signals when I instruct her to. We use both most of the time.

Better to be seen than have a cage up your A$$. :nixweiss:

I agree.  IMO, it's like flying a plane.  Only ONE captain at a time.

Sometimes the BSR will give an inattentive/inconsiderate cage driver a hand signal  :sauer021: - does that count?

Finger signals given by the passenger is ok as long as she lets you know so that you can grab some throttle and out run the possible road raged cager trying to run you over.

No way do I want my wife throwing out signals from the back seat.

As others have said, waving and flipping the bird are ok.

My wife would have to wake up in order to give hand signals.  :P  Seriously, she leaves the signals to me.
