The wife is legal and licensed.

Never thought she would want her own, that is what she kept saying. Well when we got back from Sturgis she changed her mind. Happened pretty fast, she got her permit then took a riding course, I took her to parking lots about 7 times and here are the results, she is licensed and legal, not a CVO but a good starter bike.

Congratulations. Pretty much what we went through and now she is on her fourth bike. Also smart of you to take her for parking lot practice.

Congratulations. My wife has never ridden any type of MC EVER. However, we have discussed her getting her own bike when the kids are all out of the house in 2-3 years. I think it would be great. What bike is that starter bike?

My recent experience with this:

My wife took the safety course in the spring and we got her a Softail Slim (she needed a real low seat, and it was well ballanced for her small frame..she is just shy of 5' tall).  Some folks said the bike was too big to start, other said go w/ a sportster or small metric.

We found she was most comfortable on the slim (after a seat swap to move her up and risers to bring the bars back a little) and liked the feel of it best even tho it was heavier than some of the other bikes she has looked at.

She still doesnt ride much, but is enjoying getting used to it.  I still like having her on the back with me, but I'm guessing we will do a good bit of both.

Jswearve, the bike is an 01 sportster 883. 6800mi. Pretty clean bike.
