Find a model you like, wait 1-2 years. Find one gently used from an individual and buy it for 25% less than you would pay getting it when it just came out.  I fell in love with the blue/blue fltrxse when it came out in 2012.  I found one this spring from an individual, it had 2,500 miles on it and was absolutely showroom perfect!!!! I paid about 4k less than what a dealer would want, and no sales tax in my state buying from an individual.

I understand the cost savings of waiting, no doubt about it. On the other hand, my bike is only going to continue to depreciate and why not ride what I want for those next two years. The hunt continues!!!!

Was it really worth around $160 bucks a month to not ride what you really wanted? Don't mean to be a smart Alec but really??

If you want the bike, shop around.  There are many dealers willing to sell them at MSRP.  You may have to travel a bit to get the deal.  4K over MSRP is insane.

I guess it's bitter sweet to know it's not just the DFW area going thru this madness. I'm certainly fine with traveling to get one, I'm just anxious.

the anxious guys are the ones that pay over msrp.  be patient.  if you really have restraint, you can wait towards the end of the model year and you may even find a used one.  I bought my 2011 SESG in September, 2011,  used with a SE Stage III kit and 1500 miles and paid $28,000 for a $32,000 bike.

If you don't mind traveling some, I talked with 2 dealers who are great - Black Bear HD in Wytheville, VA and Pikes Place HD in Colorado Springs, CO. No mark ups, and have a good stock of bikes. Best wishes!!

I'm in El Paso and we run across the same issue. Most of the guys around here run up to New Mexico or Arizona to purchase their bikes. Sad but true, I wish MOCO would put a price lock on bikes.

Keep working it, that bike is really nice....

I talked to Barnett's the other day. They claim to be selling CVO at MSRP. Their setup/prep fee is a little high and they are very proud of their ESP. However, for the most part they fell in line and weren't gauging the market premium $2k, $4k, $5k figure I have heard from some dealers out there. What has been your experience with them?

Imagine if you wanted the new CVO Ultra Road Glide .. with the new models out the value of pre '15 ('13's and down) is going down fast. And a lot of people seem to be jumping on the FLTRX and FLTRXS.

As other have said, this will calm down but it may be spring before it does. Can you wait for 5-6 months or do you have to have it now? Suggest finding a bike you want, start calling around to other dealers, get the lay of the land and then go in and get qualified as a buyer. Then make a fair offer and leave the rest to them. You may have to sell your trade-in on your own to get a clean deal out of your local shop.

Good luck,

Not sure how far you are from Dillon's in Omaha, but they gave me a crazy deal. List price, $15k for trade difference and $4k in upgrades.

Holstein's in Omaha is an MSRP dealer as well. In Texas, talk to Red River in Wichita Falls, they are an MSRP dealer as well. I stopped by their shop on the way to Maggie Valley as week ago Saturday.

There's value to waiting, especially if you hold out until the middle of winter, when sales are slow in the bad weather areas.

Our local dealer (or MoCo?) runs a special every year: buy in January, no payments until April.

And a lot of people seem to be jumping on the FLTRX and FLTRXS.

Interesting.  Our GM said tonight not one new RG has sold (has 5 on floor); he thinks people are waiting for more of the non-CVO Ultra Limited Lows to arrive.  He sold the first (and only) one the day it arrived.

When I was shopping for the CVO Breakout MSRP was 24k and Branett's listed firm at 37k. After working with them they dropped 6k grand but would not budge. I ended up buying one overseas 3k grand under MSRP. Now everybody don't have that same opportunity but it shows that dealerships have a lot of influence. MOCO needs to price force on the dealerships period. Then the dealership would be forced to gear themselves towards customer service and additional parts and services vs bike sales.

This is an ugly topic and this could go back and forth for days, but the word on the street here is what I stated in my last thread.

Red River is a good family run dealership. I drove 2.5 hrs one way to deal with them after having the same issues in FTW. Problem in Fort Worth is all the dealerships are owned by the same family and have the same pricing. Talk to Charlie
