How hard is it to change the Complete Exhaust
« on: September 19, 2014, 06:33:01 PM »

I got my new Bassani exhaust coming in and
I've turned allot of nuts and bolts in my time but
sure hate to save a couple hundred bucks and break a stud!
yep got the liquid wrench and all the proper tools

Just on a 14 year old bike
a nut being frozen and something going wrong concerns me!

sure looks easy enough until a stud breaks and then it's a grand instead of $200!

I prefer "Gibbs" brand for penetrating oil/lubricant myself.   But, whatever you use, you are on the right track...shoot the studs  and wait a while and shoot 'em again & let soak overnight.   Use the correct (USA made) sockets and go easy on breaking the nuts loose....most of the tech's probably won't take the care that you do when whipping off nuts & bolts.   Take your time and you will be fine.   I like the Bassani equipment....good stuff.

You'll be more careful than a tech.  I'd rather try and do my own work because I know it's done right and I'm saving money.  If I get stuck, I can always take it to the shop.

Everyone has their personal preference - I like KROIL to loosen difficult fasteners...

As far as swapping out an exhaust system.... It's as basic as it gets for an average mechanic.  If you have even minimal mechanical skills, you should be capable of the task.   :2vrolijk_21:
