heat
« on: September 21, 2014, 05:11:01 PM »

i know its been discussed before.   Took my limited in for 1000 mile service.  No problem with engine heat at all.  Now after the service it is really hot not sure what they did but not the same bike.   The Fans are  working but just a lot more heat than there was.  What ever you call that when the rear cylinder shuts down  is enabled.  Im just don't know what they did to it.  Been riding in 100 degree heat no problem now its like 85 and i feel the heat anyone else have this happen.

Just my thoughts. The fact that it has been 100 degrees you probably did not notice it as much as you do now that the weather is a little cooler. My bike is hot, runs hot, oil is hot, just plain hot. I had a 2011 and this one (2014) seems as hot as it was. :-\

Yep the twin cooling doesn't do crap for the heat problem either. Mine was HOT before i swapped the head pipes. Now the rear cylinder/ pipe  is HOT as heck even with the tuner installed with a map.

Flibb, I hate your having this issue but I do appreciate the replies your getting. I strongly considered getting one of the new Rushmore bikes strictly for the heat management. It seemed a lot of people were talking about how much cooler the new bikes are.
Im less tolerant with the heat on these bikes than most folks. While I like the lowers and the protection they provide, they have to come off in the summer. If I were to buy one and later wish I could remove the lowers, I'm scare I'd run it off into a lake.

And one other thing. I changed the stock pipe out, which got rid of the cat. converter, put tuner on it, had it tuned by a very reputable tuner in my area and it still is hot! The one thing it does not do is get hot enough for the back cylinder to cut off which my 2011 did regularly when not moving for awhile. :nixweiss:

The 2014's do not work the same as the 2011 did.
With the new ones the rear cylinder cuts out whenever the ambient (outside) air temperature is above 80*. If yours is not cutting out and it's over 80* outside then yours is not turned on.

I think everyone forgets that your leg is still next to an exhaust pipe that's kicking out between 1100 - 1300 degree exhaust temps..... it's going to be hot. The difference that's noticeable on these is the head and oil temps and they are lower. Anybody thinking they are a whole bunch lower hasn't woke up yet.
