I have been told it's going to cost me a 1000 bucks and it has to be ordered. I also have to give them the present mileage and Vin number.
Say what? The MSRP for the instrument cluster for a 2014 CVO Limited is $300 US ($240 + shipping from Surdyke). Are you having this done in the USA or in Canada?
P/N 70900294 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, KPH $299.99
Here's an odd note. If you're talking about a regular 2014 Ultra Limited, not the CVO, then the instrument cluster is MSRP $634 US, P/N 70900119, KPH. WTF! If you're actually talking about the standard, not CVO model, it looks like you could order the entire CVO gauge set and trim rings for less than the price of just the instrument cluster for the Standard model (approximately MSRP $581 US for the instrument cluster, the fuel gage, the voltmeter, and the trim rings). Makes absolutely no sense, and I've got a sneaking suspicion someone at Harley screwed up the list prices.

Another note, I've been doing some research online and it seems the speedometer/odometer on the newer bikes is locked by VIN, thus the requirement to provide both the VIN and mileage when ordering. If you just try to swap existing instrument clusters from one bike to another, it won't work and supposedly the dealer can't do anything to make it work. Hmmmm. Learn something new every day.
