Thieves are time conscious.  Plus they tend to scope out an area prior to see what is there to take, getaway routes, lighted vs dark, etc.

Have traveled by bike a lot, have never had anything stolen.  Same trip, same place, friends have had things stolen.  Guess what was on my bike but not on their bike?
Exactly. They will not want to take the time to remove the cover, assess what is under it to determine if it is something they want or not. I try to use any and all tools to deter them when travelling... park under awning that is well lit, slide the night desk clerk a little tip, activate alarm, get a room on ground level as close to where the bike is parked as possible, and use the the optional pager for the alarm.... and of course be prepared with Mr. Glock.

If they want to steal stuff because I didn't use a cover go for it. That's why I pay for insurance.

After reading through everybody's comments i think I'm going to end up buying an Exigent cover and do a quick wipe down of bugs from windshield, lights, etc prior to putting on the cover. I know many say just let the bike get wet, bikes were made to get wet, etc but i rather not. I agree with the anti-theft aspect and I prefer not finding bird droppings, sapp, etc on my bike. If nobody knows whats under there you have less chance of any problems.

Same plan here.  Except I currently travel with Mr. Ruger & Mr. Kahr & another good friend - either Mr. J. Daniels and/or Mr. W. Turkey.  Between the 3-4 of us, would not be a pleasant day for some stupid goober poking around my bike after a day of riding.

But if I had Mr. Eagle, just them looking at the business end of that would create a need for new underwear....

Fortunately for me my bike is out of all warranties (OEM & ESP)... don't have to worry about hearing any BS about using "superior" products on mine. ;)

I did purchase one of the MoCo's outdoor covers when I first purchased my bike and prior to joining the site (and being educated) that didn't last. :sauer005:

I sold one of the CVO covers, kept the other.  This site has caused me to spend more $$ on bikes than I ever dreamed saved me money in the long run.  Decided the el cheapo covers worked well enough & then kept reading here about Exigent until finally bought one.

I have an ESL.  Since the newest gee golly whizz bang HD compensators (like the one on my bike) are made from a blend of craptomium and breakallthetimide, is good to be in the tender caring arms of the ESL.  I expect to be more than a grand ahead on this one.

My cover is out of warranty, no doubt.

You should be good... only thing that might happen is somebody put some rice under the cover (just ask Chip about that). :D :D

I thought he'd mentioned someone putting rice under his bike but I can't find the post... maybe it wasn't him. :nixweiss:
