I have V&H power duals and hi output slip ons with a V&H fuel pak 3 on order. Any thoughts...
Should I leave the headers stock and just use the slipons and fuelpak?
?
Well you can get by with the slip-ons but if you install the power duals (headers) you will need a tuner and dyno run. There hasn't been a lot of buzz here on the fuelpak III but if the install suggests that you disable the 02 sensors most of our experts will advise against it (and the fuelpak) that is why N.GA.Hawg has suggested a "real" tuner.
JSwerve has done a lot to his engine, but he has also mentioned that if he had to do it again he "might" not go as far. Just make it look good and sound good, and RIDE it. I agree.
My 2011 is setup with V&H power duals and Hi-outputs (sound familiar) also a tuner and dyno run. I do not intend to take it any further, there is enough power for me. I also replaced my lifters and pushrods but it appears HD has since addressed this weakness and something you need not worry about.
For now, if it were mine, I would install the slip-ons and stop, ride it and enjoy it, and move forward cautiously with additional engine mods. If you find you need more power there are some very good resources here to help guide you through the process.
