My BIG DISAPPOINTMENT from H-D
« on: October 19, 2014, 05:46:51 AM »

Just saw the new CVO Street on the Italian site I quickly ordered from my local dealer. precise that always appear on the site Italian prices, the price of this bike was officially released to 38K Euros.
The dealr tells me that will put the bike in order immediately after 15 days the price aumente mysteriously thousand euro, just for this bike. I write an email to the HD Dealer and Italy, the Dealer will answer me badly denying the truth while the Italian hd I do not even worthy of response.
Well, friends, after almost thirty years of trust and 12 motorcycles purchased this time I think I might change my brand. (After having canceled my hog life member).
BMW pampers its customers and always calls after any intervention (I own a car of this brand) and never say never have been snubbed.

sorry for my english..

I'm sure I'm not unlike many folks here that have often considered going to a different brand.  My problem is I have too many HD T-Shirts!

Love my BMW and Guzzi. My HD currently sits in the basement, not sure what to do with it. I really don't ride it or miss riding it. Old technology and sub par quality in general, although I have no quality issues.

And I don't have to dress like a pirate anymore  :drink:

Been there, done that a couple times and I always come back to the dark side. The only difference is I don't own one single stitch of their clothing except for my leather which was half off or something when I bought my 05 ... and I still wore it when I rode my Gold Wing and Ducati! ... and still wearing it today.

I seem to remember reading some posts around here a short time back with the same complaint from the USA customers on the CVO Street Glide.  Something about a supposedly incorrect price being posted not only on the website, but also with the dealers.  It seems some dealers honored the lower price for those customers who had a firm order in place before Harley "corrected" the price upward.  Others of course did not.  If you have a signed buyers order from the dealership with an agreed upon price, they should honor the price and if they don't you may have legal recourse.  If you just have a verbal arrangement with the dealership, then you are probably out of luck.

I am sorry to hear you had these kinds of problems!  Personally I think any brand (on anything cars, boats, bikes, etc.) can do things that disappoint you. The dealers are also a factor as to how things are handled. I have found that if you build a good relationship with the dealer you can get through these times the best possible. I pick what I think is the best choice for me (research and personal preference) and I consider how well the dealer works with me. Time will also change how brands act as well as dealers. Someone above mentioned the clear fact that if you had the bike on order you had a set price. The dealer has to go by the contract.

Thanks to all the friends who responded. I would like to point out that I did not have a written order, just an email sent to my concessionariuo of trust, one that gave me a lot of disappointment is the fact that NO ONE has seen fit to RESPOND TO MY MAIL.
Anyone can have mistakes, even the big brands, but never in my life ever I happened to have no risposta..completamente ignored.
This does no credit to a company that is said to careful
  to the customer.

It should tell everyone something when a company refuses to list an email address in their contact information in this day and age.  What it tells me is that they really don't care and really don't want to hear from you.  All they care about is all that money that keeps rolling in from all the Kool-Aid drinkers out there.  As you said, as long as people keep buying, Harley has no incentive to do any better.  They don't have to satisfy customers, so they concentrate on satisfying the executives and stockholders.  When they make a mistake (and they make a ton of them), they don't worry too much about correcting that mistake in a timely manner and they don't apologize or even pretend to care.  Many of the same people who keep letting H-D do it to them would have a hissy fit if the same stuff happened on the other products they buy.  I've read plenty of posts from people who refuse to buy a particular brand of car or truck, or navigation device, or appliance, because they had one bad experience with quality and customer service.  Some of those same people, however, have had multiple Harley's that they have been very unhappy about over the past ten to twenty years and they still keep trading them in on new ones, hoping to finally get a good one I guess.  It's impossible to understand the logic, or lack thereof, with some people.

It's not ony mother Harley doing this.
I recently ordered a new car (not going to mention the brand) - and had a really interesting experience.
Wife and I were sitting in front of our salesman with the website of the manufacturer open on our IPad.  When we were ordering the accessories we were shown the prices on their official website.  The salesman was making up our order on his computer.  Every single item we ordered was 30-40% higher on his computer than was shown on our IPad!
He just said he had to go by his computer and wasn't sure why the numbers were different.
We have previously bought a new car from our salesman, and we are friends with him.  He wasn't lying to us- but someone seems to be!
Maybe they're learning from Harley?

Maybe the Internet is not 100% reliable

If you don't like the price don't buy.
