Never Ever been Banned! before
« on: November 18, 2014, 09:09:54 AM »

with my love of giving my money to others, so I can keep buying different hot rods
I've been a member of no less than 8 clubs,
mostly because they are (this site) is a world of great information that you just can't get by goggling!

I've been a member of the 93 cobra registry club for a year or so, and
with the pursuit to sell the 93 and buy another car

I jumped in on the Mustang Forum,
did a intro and just stated that I would be having a car for sale!
with a brief discretion  :-\

was told very soon after I can not post for sale until I've been a member for 36 years and 7 million post,
I said fine (but the car is still for sale)
I can wait (come get it now)

and next thing I know
I'm banned! :-[

I feel like I just smacked the pope  ;)

will no go and sit in the corner for a while  :nixweiss:

Some sites don't have a section for buying and selling stuff, and most sites have a topic that covers rules of posting.  If this site has rules about not posting items for sale, then I can understand why you were told what you were told.  And if you persisted in trying to make an end run around the rule, I can also understand why they might restrict or ban you.  I know it's not the "in" thing to do these days, but some places actually take their rules seriously.

Anyhow, there are plenty of places you can post items for sale.  If that particular site says no, go find another one that allows such posting.

Over the years I have seen it as a form of protection for members. Not to cast aspersions on you Bromebe but sometimes members get burned by a stranger that logs into a site and first thing they do is try and sell something.
I know myself I feel more comfortable buying stuff from a long time member that is an active poster and has attended get togethers and other members know them.
Thinking about it on a scammers viewpoint if I was one and had a photo and information of a particular brand/make etc. I would target a group of enthusiasts since they may be the first to jump on a rare or special deal and may "buy" from emotional not practical necessity and may send money before thinking. I know the reverse can be true too where an enthusiast group can spot a scam or lie quicker than the general public.
I don't know the Mustang Forum but maybe grc is correct in that it is more of a social and exchange ideas kind of sight not a for sale site like Auto Trader.  :nixweiss:

I joined Steve's Nova Forum site and in their rules you have to have at minimum 25 posts of a specific length, not just a thumbs up or a +1 etc.  They enforce this rule quite a bit as some join just to put their car on the Classified Cars For Sale forum.

I've seen some get a way with posting a "What's It Worth" thread and ask members for ideas on price etc, without actually saying it's for sale.

Sorry to hear about your swift removal, their loss...

I had a somewhat similar occurrence not too long ago.   I belong to several Bike forums and also a Corvette forum and a Chevy SSR forum and currently don't own either of those vehicles.  Now,  the Chevy Avalanche that I do have and have had since it was new in 2005,   I went to join the Avalanche Club Forum to inquire about some "engine light" codes I was getting with mine.
Filled out the sign on stuff and got the "automatic" message reply that my info "had been received and they would take a look and get back with sign up info".................... :nixweiss:

Never happened............Tried it twice..............Guess I'm not worthy.............or smell...........or something. :confused5:

By the way, I signed up on an S2000 forum years ago, sniffed around most days for over a year but never posted. Then I listed the car for sale. Got the same forum moderator response. Told him to #off.

Received an email the next day from a forum member wanting to buy the car. I told him to check with his forum moderator first, in a nice way.

Received an apology email from the moderator with a cc to the forum member but I told him I would not sell it to his forum member because he had not followed my rule of contacting me 25 times first.

Sold the car 2 days later on another forum for 20% more money.

I wonder how that forum member felt about missing out a steal of a deal because of the moderator's rules?

More than likely the moderator did not care. I have been a member of many forums, started a few myself and been admin on others. The kind of members that forums want are those that contribute to many areas of the forum. Too many people pop in and out of forums to buy or sell one piece and contribute nothing. Even with the best of intentions, there are scammers who try to do the same thing. It really is for the protection of the members. If you were a member for a year on one of my forums, and contributed zero posts, I would have done the same thing. No offense

Might be a couple Corvette forums that I'm in trouble with then.....I've been tasked with selling my elderly father's C5 and joined a few forum groups, reviewed the rules, didn't see anything about needing a minimum number posts or having to be a member for a certain length of time so.... up the add went. So far the add is still up and I sincerely hope it doesn't cause anybody over there to get upset. I'm just trying to give a fair deal on a nice car to someone who will actually enjoy it.....

I excepted the outcome of the Banning!
yep, thought I'd swing one in with a curve ball and don't blame anyone for the ban

just went about "passing the car on to someone else" the right way
she's going up to Street Side Classics to be put on Consignment

let them handle it plus their rules and fees are simple and reasonable

other than the ban, I've really one had one other issue and that was a buyer of some wheels and tires I sold
to another club member,
that immediately went into a rage once he received them because they were not brand new!
I gave him a discount and told the site thanks but don't need a club that let another go into a verbal rage and assault on the site as this guy did

but these issues are very rare with anyone I hear from on a club site

I got banned from the HDOZ forum because the administrator had it in me.

Pretty ordinary as I was a key member that pulled others into the site.

He banned another dozen for petty stuff….power trip and green monster comes to mind.

I'm sticking with HD forums (US / AUS) and this forum…very friendly place to post.

Life's too short to put up with that type of crap.
