Well, the last of the parts are ordered.

With the exception of the H-D oil pump o-ring on the camplate, here is the total parts list for my build.

Dynojet Power Vision - PV2
Dynojet Autotune Kit for Power Vision - AT120B
Screamin' Eagle Premium Tapered Quick-Install Adjustable Pushrods-18404-08
Feuling Reaper Chain-Driven 574C Cams 1009
Feuling Camshaft Chain Drive Installation Kit - Standard 2070
(reusing my 2014 Screamin Eagle Lifters with 3,000 miles on them)

Now, just need to find someone trustworthy to execute.  Perhaps, Hyperformance - Pleasant Hill, Iowa or Mcvay Custom Motorcylces - Cedar Falls, IA, or open to suggestions.

Thanks for Everyone's Help & Have A Merry Christmas,

dnlpnd
It seems that the more aggressive cams put more stress on the lifters. You might want to do those, too.

X2 on new lifters (and not OEM's)... with removing/installing all the parts you have listed it would make good sense to change lifters at this time... and you may want to go w/something other than OEM due to the documented failures of them.

X3 on the lifters.  What made you decide to pull the trigger on that cam?

I pulled the trigger on the Feuling Reaper 574, because it supports stock compression, has one of the best torque curves (for my setup), is readily available, and Feuling has a good reputation.

There is still time to order lifters, but here is the logic that went into reusing...

I was told via CVOHarley.com PMs and during face-to-faces with experienced mechanics that the 2014 CVO RK has the latest generation of Screamin Eagle lifters and previous failure issues have since been resolved.  Also, since the lifters are a roller type (that really do not wear into a cam) with only 3,000 miles on them, I would only be throwing money away replacing them.  This is combined with the fact I am only going with a .574 lift cam with stock springs.

Now, if someone has factual information regarding failures of the latest generation 2014 Screamin Eagle lifters or any other fact based reason to replace, I would be all ears.

Thanks,

I doubt if any factual/anecdotal analysis would be available at this time if in fact these are a "new" generation lifters for 2014 as there might not be enough bikes with enough miles to determine a/if there is a failure rate. Just the fact you are getting all new parts in that area to me it just makes sense to go all new (upgraded) parts while doing it.... however each to his own if you're comfortable w/using the old ones it's your bike... your money. :2vrolijk_21:

Do other lifters fail or just the ones that were made specifically for Harley?

Internet rumor has it that many of the known lifters (and there are dozens) are just branded individually to suit but all (or most) come from few manufacturing sources.....such as Hylift-Johnson who makes S&S as well as (surprise, surprise) Jim's and HD amongst a host of others.

Not saying there haven't been failures for Harley or that upgrading(?)replacing due to normal wear & tear is a bad idea if your there already just that from the packaging alone how do we truly know the differences between the lifters themselves?

To a certain extent it is and will continue to be a crap shoot.

I believe that these lifters were first used in the 2013 CVO engines. I've been watching for any reports of failures but can't remember seeing any. Correct me if I am wrong.

I would be interested in any feedback from anyone with significant miles on these.

the facts are good lifters out there with data to back it up. the new Harley lifter....well I guess as new as they are they have not proved anything. you have spent quite a few dollars on parts spend a few more on proven lifters! think about it.  :2vrolijk_21:good luck with the build and enjoy it!

Seriously used lifters? Would you buy a used tire for your scoot?
In the long run lifters are cheap labor rates are not! Oh and from experience you can always afford to do it again.
No trying to be a smart azz. Well maybe but the lifters are cheap why not go to a proven S&S lifter and be done.

Don't think that extra bit of lift is so insignificant. Plus there are other things involved, such as duration. Every time I've seen someone on here has had a lifter problem they had done their cams. It's just a little extra fight for the lifters against the springs, which are pretty stiff.

That is correct. I have about 24000 on them on my 2013 SERK. I have been hard pressed to find many with significantly more miles than mine, I have been asking folks for this very reason. Trying to gather data to convince myself if the new design has fixed the problem or not. I spoke with Steve of GMR and he has not had to change any failed ones but he has changed them due to to similar wear observed on them compared to the older ones. If you are reading this Steve correct me if I am wrong.

I plan on upgrading to 113 cubic inches with GMR this coming year and the lifters, along with cam bearings will be changed in the process. By the way the cam bearings have been upgraded also, but like Steve said, we aint playing that game. Cam bearings are cheap and she will be getting new ones.

Roger that!  Changing the cam bearings was a must for me too.  The Feuling cam change kit comes with inner and outer cam bearings.

I like what I am seeing/hearing that the 2014 110CID engine has the latest generation Screamin Eagle (not OEM) hydraulic lifters with no documented failures!  This concurs with everyone I've talked to and read.

If I choose to replace the lifters too, is everyone okay with Feuling HP+ LIFTERS HYDRAULIC ROLLER LIFTERS - Part# 4000, to match my Feuling Reaper 574 camshaft?
