Lane splitting.....
« on: January 20, 2015, 11:46:36 AM »

It's not only in California.  Here's two and a half minutes of lane splitting in Chile....

Thanks for sharing.  That was with some narrow lanes too!  I don't think that one semi wanted him to go by. I never did this even with smaller bikes.  I do see some riders here in Atlanta doing this (it is illegal) but even here the lanes are bigger.

It's a way of life here in California.  But a more prudent person would follow the CHPs suggestion of no more than 10 mph above the flow of traffic.  That's the rule of thumb that I TRY to follow.  So when the traffic is flowing 80 mph............... :nervous:

How's that working out for you on CUSE8 JC? Never tried it as I never had my scoot in SoCal, but often wondered with the width of the Ultra Classic - appeared a bit tight between cars at times.

Lane splitting in California can be a little Nerving. Although there are a lot of carpool lanes that allow motorcycles to ride in.

Not a chance here in Mass - don't care if it's legal or not, you will be wiped out. We're famous for lane changes without signals, diving from one lane to another to "get ahead" of everyone else, etc., etc.

That is absolutely INSANE. It's only a matter of time until that guy is pushing daisies. There is no second chance on that one.

I'll chance it here in NJ (not legal), but only in stop and go traffic, and when that traffic is stopped. It pisses people off, but we're always pissed here. When I'm in my cage I actually appreciate guys splitting as it gets me a little closer to getting through the traffic light.
