Dyna beads are good to go!!
« on: January 24, 2015, 08:14:18 PM »

Just wanted to post about dyna beads. After a lot of reading and discussing with my local indy shop, I went with dyna beads in my new metzlers. I have to say, it has never been smoother. At any speed, the wheels feel smooth.

My next set I may try one of the liquid sealer/balancers, but for now I am happy. Forget the stupid stick on weights that will fly off and dent you bike, come off and throw the wheel out or don't compensate for uneven wear over a few thousand miles...

I have been selling and installing Dyna Beads for a few years now with great success with them. I have had only one bike that had agitators and beads wouldn't balance the rear wheel. It took 3.5-4 oz of lead weights to balance regardless of tires.
They do work and no stinkin weights stuck on wheel to fly off.

I use stick-on weights on my bike and several cars over the years. Have over 100,000 miles on bikes and who knows how many on cars and NEVER had one fly off. I do think, that like anything that sticks on, you need to prep surface prior to sticking them on (clean) but otherwise a good product that has been around a LONG time.
I do think the dyna beads are a good product for some, just not for me.

I used Dyna Beads in my bike a couple of years ago.  Added the recommended amount and had vibration.  I then added a bit more and had vibration.  I say vibration, but what I really meant was that it was freakin dangerous at highway speeds.  This was my front wheel only.  My rear wheel was ok.  I did some checking and apparently if your vehicle exhibits certain frequency vibrations (which can vary by bike to bike) then it can cause the beads to go out of balance from the harmonics.  I'm running Ride-On now, but it can settle and take several miles to smooth back out.  I'm going back to wheel weights at next tire change.

I have Agitators wheels on my 2011 Road Glide CVO. I've tried Dyna beads twice on 2 different front tire changes. They don't work, I've tried 2 oz adding an ounce after every test ride up to 5 oz in the front tire. Bad vibrations at 60-65 mph.

I don't like stick on weights since they get flung off in this Florida heat. It's happened over 6 times to date. This last front tire change the stick on weights have lasted 1 yr and 12K miles so far. I have front fender dent damage from wheel weights coming off.

I've had good luck with Dyna beads in my former Gold Wing.
