Find a good parts guy and have him pull several of the seat mounting rear tabs, there are different lenghts available, some longer/some shorter, probably find one that will move the seat forward w/o having to drill the oe one.
.
great idea.

ok did one more thing that might seal the deal.  Took a small piece of wood and placed it on top of the tab the front of the seat slides into.  Tapped it with a hammer couple of times (not hard ) the tab went down about 1/4".  Now the seat fits suggly in that tab, all the while when you sit down on the bike the seat stays against the dash.  Just a suggestion.  Let's Roll

I don't understand how this could work.  The seat couldn't possibly be heavy enough to reshape itself just by hanging on the wall.  Do you pull on it or something?  How long do you leave it hanging?

Any before and after pics would be helpful.

They changed the seat to a better model and forgot about the faulty stock one.   :)

Just to confirm, the MoCo's "fix" is no fix at all.  It is a slight improvement, but I have the "replacement" seat on my bike now and it still slides down, just not as much.  The original seat left about a 1" gap while I was on it and the gap now is less than half an inch.  Oh well, time for replacement anyway...

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and yes, I did post an intro.

Just picked up my '09 Silver (the fast one) SERG on Friday. I have the seat gap problem but my problem appears to be more severe than what I've read here. I've had the front of the seat come unhooked from the mounting tab under the nose of the seat. It is quite apparent to me that the seat pan flexes enough to allow both the gap and the seat to become detached. This isn't just a warranty problem. It is also a serious safety issue. If you ask me, these seats should be recalled.

You can probably do this on your bike if you have the gap. Reach down and give the seat a sharp tug, pulling at the nose. If your seat is like mine, it will detach. Mine first got detached because I hit a bump (I'm 6'0", 220, green eyes... oops, that's another forum). This caused the seat pan to flex enough to allow the tang under the nose of the seat to pop out of the hole in the seat. Once the seat is detached, all bets are off. It may or may not cause a rider to lose control but it ain't good to have the seat slide around while you are doing 70+.

I showed this to the tech at the dealer. He walked over to another '09 SERG and was easily able to pop the seat right off the mount under the seat. These seats are garbage. I won't just hang it on a nail or throw it in a box. I will almost certainly buy a new seat but I expect MOCO to either fix this safety problem or have them buy me my new seat.

As the MOCO says in their manual, "Do not allow the seat to flex excessively. Avoid hitting bumps while seated. Over flexed seats can become detached, which could result in death or serious injury. (00586a)."

Anyhow, f*cked up seat or no, this is the nicest bike I've ever ridden. I almost waited for the '10 models to see what the CVO will offer then. Since nobody knows what's in store the SERG, I figured this might be my last chance to get one. I now don't care what they offer next model year. I'm glad I pulled the trigger.

Hi,
here in switzerland tha MoCo plays the game of the 3 apes. Almost everybody in this forum
has problems with the seat of his SERG and everbody has to do something by himself. This
results in different results for everbody. Why not setup an email, with the name of each
SEG-owner, VIN-Number, the name of dealer he picked the bike and a picture of this gap.
Send this to the MoCo and to any motorcycle-newspaper in your country and see, how this
will have impact on their behaviour. The Moco was once save by the bikers, but for me it
looks like they nearly all forgot about that. I think it's time for them to remember!!!!!
