Replacement brake light for international SERG, any ideas
« on: September 06, 2009, 02:49:54 AM »

When my "international" SERG arrived last October I was not pleased to see the huge brake light. I've been looking around for something a little sleeker but had no luck finding anything that would be an improvement. Has anyone else found a replacement light?

Strange, my wife has one on her night train and its a much better brighter light than the original bulb!

The bulb version is not brighter , and the brake light is as bright ( or dark ) as the rear light .
Maybe you have the LED version ????

Best cure is to order a US spec rear fender the correct color, use the Kurakyn or Yaffee license frame and ride off into the sunset, without the ugly taillamp.
If you just want brighter, use the lens from  a 05 SEEG and the Radiantz LED Insert (has 136, I think, LED's) it is VERY bright and the SEEG lens is totally red, with no clear lic lamp lens insert.

Hey Gordy, do you have the PN for the light? I went to my dealer and they said couldn't find anything that would fit.

Yes that is the HD rack.
There is now 3 choices for the Kuryakyn led tailight-
1-5409 low pro design without licence plate lens (new release, that is what I would order)
2-4959 low pro with license plate window (the one I have-light shines up)
3-Deluxe chrome bars and license plate lens.
If you go to their site and type in the number you can see the different style.
Good luck.
BTW I priced the conversion parts and figured WTH. I spent the $1200 on other things and anyway I don't see the light when I ride and more lights at the back are better than less -yeah sure.

The kurakyn lights do not approach the lumens of the Radiantz or the Custom Dynamics units. Buy a new 05 SEEG Lens and call Radiantz or Custom Dynamics and get one of there plug in LED boards, you will thank yourself! OR deal with Dave @ Custom Dynamics, I think he has a bolt on asm now with a no window lens.

The Kuryakyn brake lights are brighter.  Sometimes in some light.

They are (or at least used to be) terrible with sun behind you though.  If the sun shone directly at the Kuryakyn people behind the bike couldn't see the light at all.  Not the LEDs themselves of course.  Something with their reflector or lens.

If you simply look at it in normal light or in the garage after screwing it on it's bright.  Take a look again with a bright sun behind you.
