Rear Spoiler for Leather Tour Pack
« on: February 28, 2010, 01:43:11 AM »

I was just out in the garage looking at my bike and picked up a lighted spoiler that I have laying around that is new and fits on a fiberglass king tourpack.  Set it on the back of my leather tour pack and it appears to fit very well except the two chrome garnishments are in the way.  I am thinking about moving them forward, towards the passenger backrest and leather wrapping the spoiler to match the tour pack.  Three questions, has anyone done this, if so who did it and what do you think it would look like.  Seems like a great way to get more light in the rear of the bike.

thanks.

Good question.  I have been on here for a bit and have never seen a post with that.  I have seen several posts where people have added LED's. I too would like to know. I would be worried about moving the chrome accents and what the leather might look like.

Topper, I was looking at that this morning and thought if they are not moveable, perhaps I would notch the bottom of the spoiler to clear them, don't like to do things that way, but don't want to destroy my tourpack trying to get more light.  If no one answers, I am going to enlist my wife to help, she is an interior decorator and has the patience to tackle any type of job even if it means painting a scene someone wants of of a piece of fabric.

I think it would be awesome on the bike.

I agree that it would be a great addition but I would be worried about what the leather could look like once you get into trying to remove the chrome accents. Even if the are double sided taped, it still could cause damage. I wish someone with knowledge could chime in.

I'm not sure anyone has done this because that part may have not been available back in '06-'07. All of the leather tourpaks I've seen on eBay may not have the CVO medallion but they all have the chrome accent pieces. I'm not sure how they attach so I'd only be speculating.

Thanks, I'm just not sure I want to try to remove the chrome pieces and end up having to buy a new lid.  I'm going to work on leather wrapping the spoiler first, so if it turns out like I want it to then I'll move forward.  Just thought hey with the new spoiler laying in the garage why not try to make the bike look different and add some much need rear light.

Were you able to attach it without cutting the medallions? Looks fantastic!
